The 2031 class is filled with young talent that is beginning to separate itself on the national stage. And with another fall season ahead, these prospects have the tools, work ethic, and potential to take a significant step forward and become names to watch.

Below, Prep Softball highlights six prospects from the high school class of 2031 who could take the next step in their recruiting journey this fall.

Makinslee England is the type of athlete who can create problems for a defense in several different ways. Her speed immediately stands out, whether she is covering ground in the outfield, making plays in the middle infield, or putting pressure on opponents on the bases. Once England reaches base, she is a constant threat to take the next one, using her quickness and instincts to make stealing bases look effortless. Offensively, England brings versatility as a slapper who is also comfortable swinging away, giving defenses more to prepare for every time she steps into the box. She adds even more value through her ability to pitch for her middle school team, showcasing the athleticism that allows her to contribute wherever needed. With a strong work ethic and multiple tools already developing, England has an opportunity to take a noticeable jump this fall as she continues to turn her natural speed into an impact weapon.

At 6'2", Lila Batman brings a physical presence to the circle that immediately makes the 2031 right-hander an intriguing prospect. She is already working in the low 60s and attacks hitters with a three-pitch arsenal that includes a fastball, curveball, and riseball. Her strength gives her an imposing look in the circle, while her developing velocity and movement give her the tools to become increasingly difficult for hitters to handle. Batman's value extends beyond pitching, as she can also contribute at first base and in the outfield. She continues to put significant work into her game through private lessons and a consistent commitment to improvement.

McKayla Steele is a legitimate two-way threat who can take control of a game from the circle or make an impact with the bat. The pitcher and middle infielder carried a significant workload throughout the summer, finishing with 111 innings pitched and 144 strikeouts while holding opposing hitters to a .240 batting average. Steele commands the circle with confidence, showing the presence and competitiveness needed to work through lineups and deliver consistently over extended innings. Her offensive production makes her even more valuable. Steele finished the summer hitting an impressive .554 with a .736 slugging percentage while striking out only three times, highlighting both her ability to produce and her exceptional bat-to-ball skills. Few young players can handle a major pitching workload and still deliver that level of offensive production.

Brynlee Zahirniak brings a dangerous combination of power and speed to the 2031 class. The third baseman put together an impressive summer at the plate, finishing with a .440 batting average and 11 home runs. Her ability to hit for average while producing that level of power gives her an offensive profile capable of impacting games in multiple ways, while her speed adds another dimension once she gets on base. Zahirniak is also taking an active approach to preparing for the next level. She attends college camps to learn from collegiate coaches, takes private lessons, and puts in additional work on her own to sharpen her game. After an 11-home-run summer, the power is already impossible to overlook.

Myla Leaver is gaining valuable experience by testing her game against older competition. At the recent Thunderbolts Showcase, the 2031 pitcher stepped into the circle at the 16U level and delivered eight strong innings, recording nine strikeouts while allowing just one earned run. Even more impressive, Leaver held opposing hitters to a .111 batting average, showing she can remain effective when facing more experienced lineups. Leaver continues to sharpen her pitching through private instruction, developing a drop ball and changeup that allow her to attack hitters in different ways and disrupt timing. She also competes in volleyball, adding another athletic element to her development.

Hadley Peterson brings impact tools to two demanding defensive positions, working as both a catcher and third baseman. Behind the plate, her sub-1.9 pop time paired with a personal-best overhand velocity of 63 mph gives her the ability to get the ball out quickly and challenge runners. That throwing ability also translates well to the hot corner, where a strong arm can become a major asset. Peterson is putting an emphasis on becoming a stronger and more explosive athlete, spending time in the weight room to improve both her strength and speed. She also brings legitimate home run power to the lineup, giving her the potential to influence games on both sides of the ball.

The 2031 class is filled with young talent that is beginning to separate itself on the national stage. And with another fall season ahead, these prospects have the tools, work ethic, and potential to take a significant step forward and become names to watch.
