10 Top Performers From Atlanta Legacy In The 2029 Class

When looking at the annual grassroots softball schedule, one notices many marquee events—and a number of them will have college coaches and luminaries in attendance.    One of those many events is the Atlanta Legacy Showcase, which utilized a multitude of venues around the area. It also recently merged with the Alex Wilcox Invitational.   We at Prep Softball were also on hand for the festivities which were, unfortunately, affected by rain throughout the weekend. We continue our post-Atlanta Legacy coverage with a look at top performers from the 2029 class.     One would be hard-pressed to find a pitcher who has more of a fierce delivery than Hartley Staton. The 1A Division 2 landscape throughout Georgia found that out, as Trion was one of the final teams standing last season. Her USA Prime National Halstead 14U finished 4-0-1 at Atlanta Legacy. Her team's first game was a 1-1 tie against VA Glory National 16U. Staton tossed five innings and a third, and allowed only two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. She also received plenty of run support in a 9-0 win over Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2029 Whitaker. She threw all four innings and struck out four while allowing only two hits and one walk.     USA Prime National Halstead 14U outscored its opponents by a margin of 40-6 at Atlanta Legacy. Maddie Davis was a key name in that powerful offensive attack. She drove in the only run in her team's 1-1 tie against VA Glory National 16U to begin its time at Atlanta Legacy. Davis was also a tough out for Empire State Huskies Porcelli/Locke 16U, as she delivered two doubles and an RBI in four at-bats in a 17-5 rout of the New York–based assembling. She was far from finished, however, as evidenced by the home run and double she hit in a 6-0 victory over Carolina Impact KB.     Dera Loudy's bat was loud all week in Georgia, as she lifted her Tampa Mustangs Gleason 16U team to an unblemished record at Atlanta Legacy. She hit third in her team's batting order, as Tampa Mustangs Gleason 16U put together a dominant 12-0 performance against Lady Dukes Arroyo 16U. Loudy scored two runs and drew a walk. She would deliver one hit in each of her team's ensuing three games—two of which were doubles. Loudy concluded her time at Atlanta Legacy with a double, an RBI, and a run scored in a 5-2 win over D1Vision Premier 16U. Up next for Tampa Mustangs Gleason 16U is PGF Nationals in California.     There was a reason why Maddi White <a href="https://prepsoftball.com/national/player-rankings/2029-rankings/" type="link" id="https://prepsoftball.com/national/player-rankings/2029-rankings/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">made our 2029 national rankings list</a>. TN Mojo Pardue 2027 16U went 3-1 at Atlanta Legacy. Their first win was a 10-1 blowout of Fusion 16U Premier Clark. White was in the circle for her team and hurled three innings and a third, along with striking out four batters while allowing only one walk and four hits, but no earned runs. She also tossed three innings of no-hit ball in TN Mojo Pardue's 2027's 5-5 tie with Carolina Elite Cheek/Genovese 16U. With Atlanta Legacy now in the rear-view mirror, California awaits for White and her team. White began her travel schedule fresh off playing school ball with Clarksville, for whom she finished 9-1 with a 1.58 ERA and struck out 244 batters, en route to a 30-16-1 record.     As a home state heroine for this past weekend's showcase, it will not be long before Peyton Harrison is once again wearing the purple and gold threads of 5A Villa Rica. For Harrison, it was not how she started but how she finished. Harrison had a rough outing to begin the weekend against Wow Factor National Marinakis 16U, but finished the showcase strong. Her Atlanta Premier Gold Jiles 16U assembling finished its Atlanta Legacy run with a 4-3 victory over Virginia-based Orion Hunter Elite 16U. She pitched an inning and two-thirds of relief, during which she retired four batters via the strikeout while only allowing a walk.     Athletics Tamborra/Martin 16U will be another of the many teams that will be on hand in California for next week's PGF Nationals. Sydney Martin was part of a team that concluded its Atlanta Legacy run with a 3-1 record and pushed 24 runs across the plate. That performance included three doubles—two of which occurred in a contest against VA Glory National 16U on Thursday. The other occurred in her team's final contest of the weekend, which resulted in a 10-3 victory over Birmingham Bolts Premier 2029 Whitaker. Martin also drove in two runs in that Saturday contest. In 2024, Martin was a USA Softball All-American selection.     Carolina Elite Dodson/Maddaluna 2027/2028 was one of the teams whose Atlanta Legacy schedule was particularly hampered by the inclement weather. Kylie Bowers still made it count, as she helped her bunch to a 3-1 showing. In her team's 3-2 victory over Power Softball Hannigan 16U, Carolina Elite Dodson/Maddaluna was held to only four hits, and two of them were courtesy of Bowers. She delivered two more hits, including a double, and an RBI in a 4-0 victory over VA Legends 16U Premier. Bowers also stole a base in that matchup. She saved her best for last, as Carolina Elite Dodson/Maddaluna defeated Armor Elite C/S/L 27/28 Carver by a final score of 8-3. Bowers came through with a pair of doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored.     Sam Porter's Georgia Impact Premier McBay team may have finished 2-2 at Atlanta Legacy, but that was enough to win its group. In a few weeks, Porter will begin her high school schedule with a 4A Cartersville team that finished 30-6 last season. She batted .667 with a pair of home runs and a 1.556 slugging percentage at Atlanta Legacy. One of those home runs was of the two-run variety, and it occurred against NC Challengers Premier Renzi 16U on Friday. She had a big game against Unity Johnson/Miller in a contest that Georgia Impact Premier McBay won by a final tally of 11-5. The three-run home run she had in the top of the second accounted for three of her five RBIs in that game.     NC Challengers Premier Renzi 16U returned to the Carolinas with a 4-0-1 record, and hope to translate that momentum to the Alliance Fastpitch Championship next week in Indiana. The highlight of Charleigh Talton's Atlanta Legacy showing occurred on Saturday when her team defeated Impact Caymol Simmons by a final score of 8-2. Talton hit two home runs in that game, and one of which was of the inside-the-park variety. In every game that she had an at-bat in, Talton scored at least one run. Talton also had a pair of stolen bases and an RBI in a 15-0 rout of Lady Dukes Arroyo 16U.     McCall Clayton, a rising sophomore for 7A Opelika, was part of a Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2029 Whitaker team that went 4-2 for its Atlanta Legacy showing. Clayton is a multi-sport athlete who also plays volleyball in addition to her softball achievements. She wasted no time making her presence felt, as she contributed heavily in an 8-1 win over Tampa Mustangs Alford 16U. She had three RBIs, which were courtesy of a double and a two-run home run. Clayton mustered two more hits on Sunday, as her team blanked Carolina Elite Dodson/Maddaluna 14U in a 6-0 decision. PGF Nationals in California await Clayton and her Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2029 Whitaker squad.
