Five Under-The-Radar 2029 Prospects To Know

Amidst all the talent in the 2029 class, some players are in the spotlight more than others. However, there are several players who are performing well this spring season. Some of those players are not yet getting the attention they deserve from their strong showings, but they should definitely be on the radar of college coaches soon.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five under-the-radar prospects to know from the high school graduating class of 2029.    [player_tooltip player_id='164471' first='Leni' last='Greenberg']'s powerful bat is proving to be a major asset for both her school and club teams in 2026. During her freshman season with Sierra Canyon playing against tough California competition, seven home runs left Greenberg's powerful bat during a campaign in which she also added 19 runs batted in. Recently, Greenberg and her BSC Bengals team earned a PGF Nationals invitation, with her two-run homer proving to drive in the winning run in the final game of the weekend. Greenberg is a former USA Softball national selection event attendee and attended camp at Oregon in January.     A versatile player who has already garnered college attention, Blake Hornyak is drawing more eyes this year. In her freshman high school season for North Allegheny, Hornyak hit .358 and earned a .452 on-base percentage, leading her squad in walks during the year. Prior to returning to Team Pennsylvania for the summer, Hornyak spent a weekend with VA Glory, with whom she hit .667 with two stolen bases at the PGF Memorial Invitational. Hornyak attended camp at Alabama and James Madison in the winter.     Isabel Garcia has long been a player to watch in the 2029 class. Garcia's ability to reach base for Glacier Peak has been exceptional in her freshman season. She hit .420 with a .482 on-base percentage and six walks against just four strikeouts through her first 17 games played this year. In just her second-ever high school game, Garcia started strong with a 4-for-4 performance and three RBI against Edmonds-Woodway. She will return to the ai Bandits for the summer season, with whom she will look to continue to impress onlookers.     Mackenzie Cooper's first varsity season is the perfect launching pad for further success in her softball career. Cooper hit .353 in her first 12 high school games for Immaculate's varsity squad across 41 plate appearances, driving in 10 runs and hitting two home runs. She also stole eight bases during the season. Cooper will look to build off of her high school season when she returns to action with the Connecticut Charge for the summer club campaign. Cooper attended UConn camp in January and is sure to receive more college attention as her recruiting process continues.     Whether it is catching or at the plate, Ellie Bengtson represents the best of the class of 2029 with how she has performed during the spring season. With Prairieville during her freshman campaign, Bengtson used her power to hit six home runs and 21 extra-base hits, while also driving in 22 runs. Behind the dish, Bengtson caught 15 opponents stealing and led her team in batting average, earning an All-District selection for her performances. Bengtson will represent United 14U National over the summer, as she takes her skills across the country and looks to continue her high quality of play.
