Competing in both the Premier and Platinum brackets, these teams displayed exceptional pitching, powerful offenses, and remarkable teamwork.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Below are six 14U teams that made a significant impact this summer in Huntington Beach and had fun doing so.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">14U Premier</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Athletics Mercado 2010 - Tidd</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Athletics Mercado 2010 - Tidd team secured first place in the highly-competitive 14U Premier Division at PGF Nationals, completing a dominant summer season. Their ace pitcher, Destinee Herrera, was instrumental throughout the tournament, starting every game and allowing just one earned run in a critical seven-inning performance during the championship. The team relied heavily on her skills all summer long, and she rose to the occasion when it mattered most. Offensively, the team maintained a strong .350 batting average over the week, delivering timely hits against some of the best pitchers in the country. After winning the P5 Patriot Games, the National Power Pool in Colorado, and now PGF Nationals, this squad exemplified what it means to compete with heart, play for one another, and succeed as a team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Beverly Bandits 14U Chow/Hardin </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Beverly Bandits 14U Chow/Hardin team had an impressive performance at PGF Nationals, finishing second in the 14U Premier Division. With an overall record of 7-1-2 and 6-1 in bracket play. Their only loss in the bracket came in the championship game. The team scored 37 runs and allowed just 15, backed by a strong pitching staff with 104 strikeouts in 62.2 innings and a 1.34 ERA. Standout player Sophia Schlader recorded 65 strikeouts over 36.1 innings, while also hitting three home runs. Laynie VanAken excelled with a .565 batting average and a 3-0 pitching record. Catcher Magdalena Aguinaga contributed significantly, batting .522 and leading with six RBIs. This squad proved it can compete at the highest level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lady Magic Munoz-Asia </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lady Magic Munoz-Asia concluded an impressive summer by finishing third in the Premier 14U bracket at PGF Nationals, demonstrating the team's ability to compete with the nation's top squads. After a solid performance in Colorado, where they finished ninth in a challenging Power Pool at TCS Nationals, they carried that momentum into Huntington Beach. There, they achieved a 6-3-1 record over the week, including pool play, scoring a total of 54 runs in 10 games. Outstanding performances from pitcher Rylie Bumgarner (2028), pitcher/utility Brooklyn Ainsworth (2028), middle infielder Rosely Hensley-Mokaio (2028), and shortstop Renee Dragseth (2029) helped showcase the team's grit, versatility, and high-level execution throughout the week.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">14U Platinum</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:image {"id":121627,"width":"897px","height":"auto","sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"none"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img src="https://prepsoftball.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/14/2025/08/IMG_9043.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-121627" style="width:897px;height:auto"/><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo: Athletics Mercado Romero 2K11</figcaption></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Athletics Mercado Romero 2K11</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Athletics Mercado Romero 2K11 dominated the 14U Platinum division at the 2025 PGF Nationals, finishing with an impressive 10-0 record, including pool play, and capturing the national championship. The championship game was a hard-fought victory over Georgia Impact, showcasing their grit and composure under pressure. Throughout the tournament, they achieved five wins by mercy rule, scoring a total of 93 runs while allowing only 12. Offensively, they delivered 101 hits, showcasing their ability to string hits together. Their outstanding pitching staff of Jaiah Romero, Danica Buchanan, Camila Quiroz, and Maddie Urbina, combined for 45 strikeouts, a 1.22 ERA, and a .164 opponent batting average. Defensively, they were nearly flawless, boasting a .980 fielding percentage. With discipline, strength, and teamwork, this young team established a new standard for itself.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Georgia Impact Premier ‘11 - Cleghorn</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Georgia Impact Premier ‘11 - Cleghorn team performed exceptionally well in the tournament, finishing in second place in the 14U Platinum division, starting pool play with a record of 1-1-1. They then embarked on a remarkable six-game winning streak in bracket play, ultimately reaching the championship undefeated. During their winning streak in bracket play, they defeated several tough opponents, including AASA Premier, Birmingham Thunderbolts, Firecrackers Brashear, and California Cruisers Gold. Throughout those games, they scored a total of 34 runs while allowing only eight, demonstrating their ability to compete against some of the top organizations in the game. The team recorded 63 hits, achieving a batting average of .362. In the circle, the pitching staff excelled with a stellar 1.05 ERA and a .182 opponent batting average. The girls competed fiercely throughout the week, came together, and found ways to win.<a href="https://x.com/Bolts_2029/photo"></a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Birmingham Thunderbolts Whitaker 2029</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Birmingham Thunderbolts Whitaker 2029 achieved an impressive third-place finish in the 14U Platinum division, concluding the tournament with a 9-2 overall record. They started the week strong, delivering a series of shutouts that highlighted their offensive dominance and set a confident tone. The team scored a total of 67 runs while allowing only 17. Makayla Mann and Chloe Wade were standouts at the plate, combining for 35 runs and both posting batting averages over .450. In the circle, Kate Flanagan and Maxie Provost excelled, with Kate pitching 30 innings and maintaining a 0.70 ERA, while Maxie contributed 24 innings with a 1.17 ERA. The Thunderbolts demonstrated grit, power, and consistency throughout the week, establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the division.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
