2031 Pitchers Making An Impression This Fall

The 2031 pitching class is already making its presence felt this fall, with several young arms showcasing impressive velocity, developing their arsenals, and delivering standout performances against tough competition. Below, Prep Softball highlights five pitchers from the high school class of 2031 who are making an impression this fall. Laine Jacobs is a talented left-handed pitcher in the 2031 class who continues to make an impact on both sides of the ball this fall. With a personal best pitching velocity of 62 mph, Jacobs brings impressive arm strength to the circle. Her offensive production has been equally noteworthy, posting a .442 batting average, .538 on-base percentage, and 1.250 OPS during her fall season. She also collected 23 hits, 30 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. In September, Jacobs contributed to a victory in the circle with two strikeouts while also showcasing her defensive versatility by throwing out a runner at home from third base. Chloe Grams continues to establish herself as a promising two-way player while competing against older competition. She reached a personal best pitching velocity of 64 mph in July, demonstrating impressive arm strength for her age. One of her standout performances came at the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series, where she tossed a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just one walk while striking out eight batters. Grams is also taking advantage of opportunities to attend college camps, gaining valuable exposure and experience as she continues to develop her game. Aria Brown is a dynamic two-way player in the 2031 class who brings a strong combination of pitching ability, defensive versatility, and offensive power. In the circle, Brown features an effective curveball that elicits swings and misses. She is also a standout infielder with the athleticism to make an impact defensively. At the plate, Brown has recorded an impressive 78 mph exit velocity, highlighting her ability to drive the ball with authority. Her dedication to improving her game is evident in her consistent work in the weight room to build strength and speed, as well as the private lessons she takes to further develop her skills. Myla Leaver is a promising pitcher who continues to make strides in the circle through her dedication and work ethic. With a top pitching velocity of 62 mph, Leaver features a four-pitch arsenal consisting of a fastball, drop ball, changeup, and rise ball. At the Thunderbolts Showcase in Canton, she delivered an impressive performance, recording nine strikeouts and allowing just one earned run across eight innings of work. She also held opposing hitters to a .111 batting average, demonstrating her ability to limit offensive production. Leaver's commitment to improving independently, combined with her academic excellence and 4.0 GPA, makes her a well-rounded prospect to watch. Josephine Cheatum is gaining valuable experience competing at the 16U level while continuing to develop her pitching arsenal. Featuring a fastball, changeup, rise ball, and curveball, Cheatum has been putting in consistent work to sharpen her spin and improve her effectiveness in the circle. In her most recent tournament, she pitched six innings, allowing just two earned runs while recording three strikeouts, a 67.4% strike percentage, and a 1.33 WHIP. Her ability to compete against older competition while refining her command and movement makes her an intriguing pitcher in the 2031 class. Cheatum also excels in the classroom, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
