The 2031 class is already showing plenty of talent, with young athletes making an impact at high-level events across the country. From impressive performances and rising metrics to strong academics and relentless work ethic, these players are giving coaches plenty of reasons to take notice early.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six standouts from the 2031 high school graduating class who are making coaches take notice early.    Bailey Hawkins is quickly establishing herself as a 2031 catcher worth following. Behind the plate, Hawkins has recorded a 1.8 pop time, showing impressive arm strength and quickness for her age. At the Stars Over Alabama tournament, her team competed up in the 14U division, and Hawkins handled 12.3 innings behind the plate without allowing a passed ball. Opposing teams did not attempt a single stolen base while she was catching, which is a strong indication of the respect her arm is already earning. Hawkins also made an impact offensively against the older competition, hitting .500 with a .652 OBP and 1.509 OPS. Her development is backed by a strong work ethic, as she takes private lessons and puts in additional time on her own to improve both her catching and hitting. A multi-sport athlete who also competes in basketball and volleyball, Hawkins brings athleticism and competitiveness to the field.     Maddie McDonald brings a combination of speed, durability, and offensive production that makes her an intriguing 2031 catching prospect. McDonald produced on a big stage at the Alliance Super Cup in Oklahoma City, helping her team complete an undefeated run to the championship while batting .455. She showcased her versatility at the Tier 1 12U Alliance Championship, where she collected 10 hits while also handling an impressive 45 innings behind the plate. Her athleticism was on full display when she took first place in the Alliance Speed Challenge, recording an 11.19 home-to-home time and a 2.91 home-to-first time. Her ability to contribute offensively while managing a demanding workload behind the plate speaks to the well-rounded nature of her game. McDonald is also investing in her development through private lessons, showing a commitment to refining her skills as she gets older.     Anderson Pearson is a 2031 right-handed pitcher who brings impact potential on both sides of the ball. In the circle, Pearson has developed a strong arsenal highlighted by a tough screwball that gives hitters a difficult look and adds another weapon to her pitching repertoire. She continues to sharpen her mechanics and movement through private lessons, showing an early commitment to developing her craft. Pearson has also gained experience competing on a larger stage, representing Team USA Region 4 in Oklahoma. While her pitching makes her a player to follow, her offensive ability adds another dimension to her game. Pearson possesses legitimate power at the plate with the ability to drive the ball out of the park, and she recently recorded a new personal-best exit velocity of 78 mph.     Callia Patterson is emerging as a high-level two-way prospect in the 2031 class, combining impressive velocity in the circle with consistent production at the plate. Patterson tops out at 64 mph and showed her ability to handle a significant workload throughout the spring and summer, throwing 187.2 innings and collecting 285 strikeouts. She finished with a 2.95 ERA and 1.357 WHIP, and held opposing hitters to a .232 batting average. Patterson's value extends well beyond the circle. During the same spring and summer stretch, she hit .362 with a .526 on-base percentage while producing six home runs, 27 extra-base hits, and 41 RBIs. Her combination of power and ability to consistently reach base makes her a legitimate offensive threat when she is not pitching. Callia already has a 64 mph velocity in her arsenal, proven durability, swing-and-miss ability, and significant offensive production.     Aubrie Szymanski is a versatile 2031 athlete whose ability to contribute at multiple positions gives coaches plenty to like. A left-handed hitter who throws right-handed, Szymanski primarily plays middle infield but has the athleticism and softball IQ to step behind the plate or move into the outfield when her team needs her. That defensive flexibility is a valuable part of her game and allows her to impact a lineup in several different ways. Szymanski showed she can produce against strong competition at the PGF Super Select 13U Championship, batting .333 with four hits, five RBIs, and six runs scored. Her ability to both drive in runs and to find ways to cross the plate herself reflects the offensive presence she can bring to a team. Szymanski is already attending college camps and continues to put significant work into developing her skills.     Laney Forseen is a 2031 catcher who stands out for the way she approaches development both on the field and in the classroom. Behind the plate, Forseen provides a strong defensive presence with an arm that is capable of controlling the running game and throwing out runners. She pairs her defensive ability with a solid bat, giving her the potential to make an impact on both sides of the ball while competing in high-level tournaments. One of the most impressive parts of Forseen's profile is her work ethic. She consistently puts in additional work on her own and has made getting stronger in the weight room a priority, laying the foundation for continued growth in her offensive and defensive tools. That same discipline carries over into the classroom, where Forseen holds a 4.0 GPA and is ranked No. 1 academically in her class.
