10 2029 NorCal Stars Showing Why Their Future Is Bright

The Northern California region is known as a hotbed of top softball talent. Travel organizations such as Batbusters, Lady Magic, and the California Grapettes are spread throughout the greater Northern California area, helping shape athletes into collegiate prospects.   The class of 2029 is already making its mark with a combination of power, speed, dominance, and versatility. As these rising sophomores continue to develop, there is no doubt they will keep making a name for themselves in the seasons ahead.   Below, Prep Softball takes a look at 10 NorCal standouts from the high school class of 2029 who are showing why their future is bright.    Austynn MacWilliams uses her long stride and athleticism to her advantage. The right-handed outfielder and utility player recently wrapped up her summer season at PGF Nationals with Coach Gabales' Sorcerer 18U Gold squad. Fresh off her freshman campaign, MacWilliams is already beginning to make a name for herself. After earning First-Team All-TVL honors, the rising sophomore showcased her speed, versatility, and scrappy style of play, proving that her potential is only just beginning to unfold.     Right-handed pitcher [player_tooltip player_id='183176' first='Riley' last='Anderson'] just wrapped up her freshman stint with LTG 2029. In her appearances from her last two tournaments of the summer, Anderson consistently generated swings and misses, recording 61 strikeouts in 43.2 innings. Not only is she a fierce competitor in the circle, but after her freshman season with the Spartans, she also proved her versatility by contributing at shortstop. Anderson's impressive spring campaign set the stage for an exciting future, as she was the only freshman in the De Anza league to earn first-team honors.     An impactful two-way player, [player_tooltip player_id='183178' first='Annabelle' last='Hoff'] showcased her impressive skills across multiple aspects of her game. When she is not in the circle, Hoff can be found consistently making key defensive plays for her team and tracking down fly balls in left field. Back in the circle, she keeps hitters off balance with her control and ability to generate outs. On the other side of the ball, Hoff is refining her swing, driving balls into gaps, and creating scoring opportunities for her team.     Speed and power are two dynamic tools in [player_tooltip player_id='183183' first='Laila' last='Tafoya']'s repertoire. The outfielder and middle infielder effortlessly covers ground, turning difficult plays into routine outs and taking away base hits. After wrapping up her freshman season at Lincoln High School in Stockton, Tafoya tallied multiple home runs and extra-base hits while consistently scoring and driving in runs. As one of the team's top producers in categories such as batting average, on-base percentage, and home runs, the rising sophomore proved her value in the lineup. Tafoya will continue her high school career as a Ram at St. Mary's High School, where she is poised to make an immediate impact this spring.     Escalon, California native [player_tooltip player_id='183184' first='Addy' last='Lopez'] set the tone this past year. Behind the plate for the Cougars, the rookie helped Escalon High clinch not only a Sac-Joaquin Section championship, but also a CIF Nor Cal Championship (California's highest recognition of play). Rolling her momentum right into the summer, Lopez continued to hose runners behind the plate, put together countless quality at-bats, and spark her lineup offensively. Walking into her sophomore year, there is no doubt she will continue to make an impact on the field.     The Nor Cal Title Champions didn't just have one standout freshman, but in the circle for the Cougars stood [player_tooltip player_id='183199' first='Tenley' last='Adams']. Averaging over 10 strikeouts per 7 innings while hitting a strong .405, the right-hander earned First-Team All-League honors during her freshman campaign. This summer for LTG Jason 18U, the pitcher continued to be a game-changer by mixing locations and keeping hitters on their toes. With a dominant pitcher-catcher duo returning to Escalon, Adams is set to continue making a name for herself in the seasons ahead.     This triple-threat packs a powerful punch. [player_tooltip player_id='160026' first='Kendrick' last='Jobe'] brings energy to the lineup on both sides of the ball. After a stellar freshman season at shortstop for the Salesian Pride, Jobe batted .712, scored 37 runs, launched 10 home runs, and earned League MVP honors. She carried that momentum into the summer with Lady Magic Munoz, with whom she continued to produce offensively and make an impact all over the field. With her versatility and production, the utility player is definitely someone to watch in the coming seasons.     There is no question that [player_tooltip player_id='183204' first='Anne' last='Wilde'] stood out this past year. In her freshman debut for the Mustangs, the left-handed hitter batted .482 with 40 hits and 34 RBIs. Wilde brings dynamic power to any lineup she's in, and this summer, she played a key role in Coach Merrida's California Grapettes 18 Gold team. Wilde's increasing power and explosiveness only add to her potential, making her a player to watch in the coming seasons.     Coming off a hot summer and a top-five finish at PGF Nationals with Lady Magic 2029, [player_tooltip player_id='157978' first='Trinidey' last='Fuss'] proved she could be a difference-maker in the lineup. She turned heads by launching three home runs during the national tournament alone, and continued to drive in runs at an impressive rate. Following a standout freshman season at Ponderosa High School, Fuss totaled 21 extra-base hits and 40 RBIs, earning League Offensive MVP honors. The speedy outfielder is poised to continue making an impact in the CVC for years to come.     As a freshman, [player_tooltip player_id='183208' first='Brooklyn' last='Medina'] was a top performer in five offensive categories for the St. Mary's Rams. Her speed plays a huge role in her game, as she stole 22 bases during the spring season. She carried that momentum into the summer with OC Batbusters Gann Legacy, with whom she continued to make an impact on both sides of the ball. Whether it's scoring from second on a base hit, covering ground on both the dirt and grass, or driving in runs herself, Medina consistently finds ways to change the game.
