Addison DeRoche has made a name for herself nationally despite coming from Maine, a bottom-10 state by population and one with a harsh climate for much of the year. That's how special a talent she is. Most high school hitters in Maine are no match for DeRoche, who has a cumulative ERA of 0.26 as her sophomore season winds down with 255 strikeouts and just 21 walks in 109 innings pitched while holding batters to an average of .061. This year, she has arguably been even better with the bat in her hands, hitting .611 with a 1.967 OPS, six home runs and 26 RBI and only two strikeouts in just 13 games. DeRoche was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Maine as a freshman, and more such awards seem likely. She has attended camps at Clemson, Florida State, Texas A&M and Arkansas, among others.

Stella Christie starred both behind and at the plate this spring against strong competition in the Orlando area. She batted .418 with six doubles, four homers and 30 RBI in 28 games, walking more than she struck out and playing error-free defense with 12 assists. Christie can drive the ball out of the park to all parts of the field and can smoke line drives through the infield as well. Her pop time could still be better, but she has a strong arm and does not even need to leave her crouch to throw out would-be base stealers at second. Christie has been to camps at Florida, Florida State, Georgia Southern, USF and Florida International, and should see no shortage of interest come September.

Taylor Jennings followed up a very good freshman year with an even better sophomore campaign, hitting .500 with a 1.014 slugging percentage, 10 home runs and 35 runs scored in 20 games. She hit safely in every game but one this year, including a string of four consecutive three-hit games in April, and she scored at least one run in every game after the season opener. Batting from the left side, Jennings has a complete spray chart and is aggressive in taking extra bases, and she is especially adept at extending her arms for outside pitches and hitting them for opposite-field power. She has gone to camps at Arkansas, Tennessee, Clemson, UCLA and Oklahoma State in the last year, and other great college programs are also showing interest.

Few players across the country made as explosive a leap between their freshman and sophomore seasons as Parker Malone, who hit four home runs as a freshman before crushing 23 long balls this past spring. She also hit .626, drove in 87 runs and scored 67 in 35 games, and walked more than twice as often as she struck out to finish with an OPS of 2.240. Her nice, easy swing makes her power look almost effortless, and she is comfortable playing both middle infield spots and in the outfield. Malone was the unanimous district MVP as a sophomore and will be a hot commodity once her official recruitment begins in the fall.

A varsity starter since she was in seventh grade, Aspen Boulware has emerged as a superstar over the last two seasons and batted .573 with 22 homers, eight triples and nine doubles with 67 runs scored in just 34 games as a sophomore. She drew 34 walks with just four strikeouts and put up a 2.379 OPS, and she complemented her power with game-changing speed, stealing 26 bases. Boulware was named tournament MVP for gold medal–winning Team USA at the 2023 WBSC U-15 World Cup, collecting eight hits in 19 at-bats with four home runs. Her mother, Jessica van der Linden, was an All-American pitcher at Florida State, and Boulware seems destined for just as decorated a college softball career. With a complete offensive profile and an outstanding feel for the game at shortstop, it's almost unfair that Boulware still has two more years before she can make her mark at the next level.

Dana Motroni's older sister, Avery, will start her college career in the fall at Arizona State, but the younger Motroni is developing into a star in her own right. She is hitting .398 as a sophomore, helping Capuchino win the Peninsula Athletic League title, and a few of her 13 doubles might have been home runs if not for a harsh wind at the Mustangs' home field. Motroni is excellent defensively against the short game, charging bunts, backhanding dribblers up the line, firing throws across the diamond and going up to get line drives and soft fly balls. She has attended camps at Cal, Arizona State and Delaware and has two years left to keep developing all her tools.

The third Californian on this list, Natalie Brozaitis does not offer much in the way of home run power, but has otherwise grown into a prospect college coaches will not want to miss out on. She batted .473 during her sophomore season with 10 doubles, scoring 23 runs in 21 games and striking out only once. Her only homer of the year was a walk-off blast in the season opener, a laser beam that she smoked over the fence in right-center field. She has also flashed pull-side power with her travel ball team, as well as the ability to hit line drives up the middle, lay down bunt singles and play top-notch outfield defense. Brozaitis has been to camps at Clemson, Tennessee, Washington, Arizona State and Oklahoma State.

A slapper through and through, Natalie Musser hit .440 this past spring, with just three of her 40 hits going for extra bases. She still reached base in more than half of her plate appearances and pushed her OPS just above 1.000 while stealing 30 bases in 25 games, already setting an all-time school record. Even a seemingly routine infield grounder becomes a bang-bang play when Musser is hustling down the first-base line. When defenses overplay the slap, Musser can hit the ball hard on the ground through the vacated holes. She can also hit away, especially with runners in scoring position, and her speed often forces the defense into making errors. Musser has been busy on the camp circuit, visiting UCF, North Carolina, Indiana, Northwestern, Duke and many more.

Abbey Davis may be a slapper at heart, but she can bunt, slap or hit away depending on what the situation calls for. As of this writing, with her team in the middle of a deep playoff run, Davis is batting .603 with six triples, six doubles, 30 runs scored and 24 stolen bases in 21 games. She has been held hitless just twice all season and finished May with six straight multi-hit games, including three outings in which she went 4-for-4. Her defense has also improved significantly from her freshman year. Even when she gets a running start, she can still hit the ball all the way to the fence, making her hard for defenses to game plan for from a positioning standpoint. Davis' speed—she is also a school record holder in the 55-meter dash—is her biggest strength.
