She was a standout on the inaugural Hoffer’s High School Sports Softball All-Star Team, reinforcing her place among the elite players in the Northeast. This summer, DeRoche has continued to shine in the circle, throwing 71 innings with 109 strikeouts, a 2.26 ERA, and just 23 earned runs, which is a testament to her command, stamina, and ability to miss bats. Her pitching arsenal is advanced and effective, as she can hit all four quadrants with precision, move pitches through the zone, and drop in a devastating offspeed that keeps hitters guessing. Addison DeRoche has made a name for herself nationally despite coming from Maine, a bottom-10 state by population and one with a harsh climate for much of the year. That’s how special a talent she is. Most high school hitters in Maine are no match for DeRoche, who finished the regular season with a 10-0 record and an ERA of 0.44 with 135 strikeouts and just 14 walks in 63 innings pitched. Opponents hit just .068 against her. Maine plays a shorter high school schedule than most states, but she still earned her 300th strikeout as a sophomore. DeRoche was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Maine each of the last two years, and more such awards seem likely. She has attended camps at Clemson, Florida State, Texas A&M and Arkansas, among others.
