About Zion

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a pitcher who focuses on movement and location. I move the ball really well and pitch to contact, generating a lot of weak ground balls and pop-ups. This Fall season I finished with a 1.437 ERA against high level 16u teams even though I am still eligible for 14u.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

In the circle, I’m locked in. I zone out the noise, trust my preparation, and stay fully focused on executing each pitch with purpose. I thrive under pressure and stay calm, composed, and competitive no matter the moment. Off the field, I’m the exact opposite—I bring a ton of energy. I’m loud in the dugout, lead the cheers, and make sure my teammates stay encouraged and confident.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes. I’m actively involved in several areas at my school. I serve on Student Council, I compete in track and field and qualified for state as a triple jumper, and I’m also part of the performing arts program where I sing and participate in school plays. I enjoy staying well-rounded and pushing myself both academically and creatively.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Softball has helped me develop strong leadership and teamwork skills. As a pitcher, I’ve learned how to communicate under pressure, stay composed, and help set the tone for my team. Being involved in Student Council has strengthened my leadership and responsibility, and performing arts has helped me become more confident and comfortable expressing myself.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is being overlooked or underestimated at times. But that usually doesn’t last long. Once I’m in the circle, I let my work speak for itself. Competing through that has taught me to stay hungry, stay focused, and use doubts as motivation to prove myself every time I pitch.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can compete at a high level and continue growing as a pitcher. I’d love to stay in the South in a warm climate, and the Southeast is especially attractive to me. I’m looking for a program that feels like family, values development, and will push me both academically and athletically.
