Makenzie Thomas’ batting average was dragged down somewhat by a high strikeout rate, but she more than made up for it with her power. She hit 15 home runs and had both 44 runs scored and 44 RBI in 34 games, good for a .915 slugging percentage. A member of the USA U-15 national team, Thomas will take her talents to the global stage for the WBSC U-15 World Cup in Italy later this summer. There are few pitches Thomas is not capable of hitting out of the park, and even a ball just off the plate can have the center fielder not even bothering to run back toward the fence for it. Her range and feel for the game in the field are also impressive. Thomas’ ceiling seems limitless as she heads into her sophomore year.
