In the first doubleheader of the season, she picked up two doubles and two home runs for the Gulf Coast Bombers. Like most left-handers, her swing, when she gets full extension, is a sight to see. She has quick hands and can turn on any pitch left in the zone. She has also played on big stages. While playing for Texas in the Junior League Softball World Series, she went deep twice and smashed a two-run double. She is one of those hitters you might choose to walk if you have a base open. Defensively, she is rock-solid and continues to get better.

When Nevaeh Boyd reaches base, that's when she really starts going to work. In just one game recently with the Thunderhawks, Boyd had three stolen bases to go along with two singles and one triple. One steal in particular was an eye-opener. After a strike was called at home plate, the catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher, and Boyd caught them napping. She took off for third base and made it there easily. She is comfortable at the plate and twirls her bat, patiently awaiting the next pitch. She has some pop in her bat as well. In one recent game, she went 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles. In that same game, she threw out two runners attempting to steal.

Reagan Tiernan's bat exploded at the Breast Cancer Awareness NIT in late September. She hit .556 for the tournament with two home runs, one double, and seven RBIs. Both dingers were the result of her great approach at the plate. She let the bat do most of the work and simply focused on putting the barrel on the ball. Defensively, she has impressive flexibility and the quick-thinking skills needed to play first base. She knows when to come off the bag and when to stretch for an out. She is a confident and competitive athlete.

During travel ball, sometimes you have to be ready at a moment's notice. For Gianna Vanacore, that was the case back in March. She was called up to play as a guest for another team during a weekend tournament, and she delivered. She went 6-for-12 at the plate with eight RBIs, three singles, two doubles, one triple, and one walk. Defensively, she was just as, if not more, impressive. She covered an enormous amount of ground while playing second and made both routine and challenging plays. Behind the plate, she allowed no passed balls, showed textbook blocking skills, and framed borderline pitches perfectly for the umpire to see. Vanacore is a player who does all the little things well, and that means a lot.

It pays to have a pitch that can elicit a lot of whiffs, and for Carissa Dawson, that pitch is her drop ball. Batters simply cannot read it or hit it. At the same time, her rise has plenty of giddy-up and leads hitters to chase. She also knows the corners of the strike zone well and can throw a purpose pitch to great effect. She is the type of pitcher who can carry a team when the offense is not so hot. Her home state of Texas is full of tough competition and provides her with a perfect opportunity to continue honing her skills.
