2029s Who Should Be Called Next September 1

With much of the college softball recruiting focus currently on the 2028 class, 2029 prospects around the country are eager for next summer when their turn at the recruiting forefront comes.   Until then, however, we are still eagerly following and evaluating 2029s ahead of their September 1, 2027 milestone moment.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five prospects from the high school class of 2029 who we believe should be called by college coaches next year on September 1.    Brynnli Mayr from Washington is certainly a player to watch in the 2029 class. The catcher and utility player for Timberline High School and the Washington Ladyhawks brings intensity and power to every game she plays in. Mayr, who competes on the club circuit for WA Ladyhawks 14U - Matlick, had a standout freshman high school season. She batted .349 with eight home runs, 45 RBIs, and a .759 slugging percentage, while also turning six double plays in the field. Mayr was named to the All-Area team and is only expected to achieve bigger and better things as her career goes on.     Charlotte Will from Illinois is a true student-athlete. Competing on the softball field for Homewood-Flossmoor High School, Will also carries a 4.2 GPA in the classroom. A middle infielder, outfielder, and utility player who can do a little bit of everything on the diamond, Will plays club ball for Nationals Premier 18U. Following her standout performance during her freshman high school season in the spring, Will was named a Southwest Suburban All-Conference selection. She is an athletic and speedy prospect who has a bright future ahead of her.     Journey Hearne from Delaware is a Northeast region prospect college coaches won't want to pass over. The catcher, third baseman, and shortstop has versatility that allows her to play three very demanding positions at a high level. Maintaining a 94.25 average in the classroom at Sussex Tech, Hearne gets it done both on the field and with her studies. Named a Second-Team All-Conference selection, Hearne has the ability to hit for both power and average. She puts in extra work off the softball field by taking hitting lessons in her free time.     Ava Watkins is another Delaware prospect in the 2029 class who can get it done on the diamond in a big way. Watkins is an athletic center fielder, shortstop, and second baseman who bats and throws right-handed. Competing for both Smyrna High School and Delaware Fury 16U Watkins, she played varsity softball in the spring as a freshman and recently completed a competitive summer ball slate. Watkins holds a 3.8 GPA in the classroom and hit her first home run not long ago.     Nina Stratton from Michigan is a talented and versatile catcher, middle infielder, and third baseman in her class. She attends Clio High School and maintains a 3.6 GPA there. Stratton puts in extra work off the field to improve her skills by taking hitting lessons and attending college camps and clinics. She played a very competitive summer ball schedule with her club squad this year, and certainly improved her skills against challenging competition. We expect her to continue to develop into a top recruit in her class as she gains more experience and confidence.
