LG Goldin put together a golden performance this past weekend in Columbus – and she contributed heavily to Buford not only claiming this year's 6A state championship, but also completing a perfect 36-0 season. She put a fitting exclamation point on what was an offensive clinic the Wolves unleashed on defending champion East Coweta in the 6A championship game with a three-run home run that ended the contest in three innings with the scoreboard reading 16-1. Goldin also doubled, scored once and collected six RBIs in that matchup. She also crushed a two-run home run in an earlier 10-0 victory over East Coweta the day before.

That first experience of championship euphoria is always the sweetest, and Ellie Wofford ensured that would be the case for her Sonoraville team as it was the final 2A squad standing in Columbus. Prior to championship Saturday, her Phoenix faced some adversity in the form of Morgan County. Sonoraville led 7-2 going into the top of the seventh before the Bulldogs tallied five runs – including a grand slam – to extend the contest. Wofford sailed a walk-off, solo home run to secure a victory for the Phoenix and keep Sonoraville in the winner's bracket. Speaking of Morgan County, the Phoenix defeated the Bulldogs by a final score of 6-2 in the 2A championship, and one of those six runs was another Wofford long ball.

Sonoraville's roster has an excellent blend of veterans and young talent. Kaylee Sitten's bat also played a massive role in the Phoenix winning their first-ever state championship. In the 2A state game with Morgan County, Sitten batted cleanup and was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Prior to championship Saturday, the Phoenix matched up against Appling County with the result being a 9-0 blanking of the Pirates. Sitten was 1-for-2 in that contest with a walk and a double. The Phoenix were on the winning end of an 8-7 decision of an earlier contest with Morgan County on Thursday, and Sitten aided her team's cause with another walk and a single.

Gordon Lee has become accustomed to state championship glory, having claimed 11 such victories since 2004. The defending 1A Division 1 champion Trojans departed from Columbus as runners-up this time, but Grace Shafer put forth championship-worthy outings. In this year's championship matchup with Bremen, the Trojans were held to only three hits – one of those hits a Shafer RBI double that gave Gordon Lee a 1-0 edge in the top of the fourth. She drew a walk and scored a run in an 8-1 victory over Armuchee that punched a ticket to the state game for the Trojans. Her hitting performances also included a double in a 10-2 win over Thomasville and a home run in an 11-7 victory over Toombs County.

Trion may not have had the success that other teams encountered in Columbus, but that was in no way due to Hartley Staton's performance. The Bulldogs' lone win of the weekend at the South Commons Softball Complex occurred on Friday when Trion prevailed in a 6-4 decision over Wheeler County. Staton entered the game in relief in the fourth inning after Wheeler County already scored four runs on seven hits. She held Wheeler County to only one hit for the remainder of the contest. Staton also struck out 11 batters and allowed only two walks and two earned runs in a contest against Irwin County. She fanned eight more hitters and also allowed only two earned runs and two walks in a close matchup with Taylor County.

Prince Avenue Christian – the 1A Division 1 state champion from 2023 – was dangerous enough this go-round to repeat that 2023 feat this time in the Private School division. The Wolverines finished third and the team's two losses in Columbus were both by two runs apiece. With a berth in the state game up for grabs, Finley Thomas walked and scored a run in Saturday's matchup against Hebron Christian. The day before, Prince Avenue Christian matched up against North Cobb Christian, and Thomas was once again a tough out as evidenced by her home run, double, walk and two RBIs. She also doubled with two singles, two runs and two RBIs in a 15-7 victory over Mount Vernon.

The last few years have seen plenty of winning softball for North Cobb Christian, and that continued this season and into this past weekend's play in Columbus. Jillian Anderton contributed to an offensive clinic that the Eagles put together that overwhelmed Providence Christian. She doubled and drove in a run in an 11-1, six-inning, run-rule matchup to dispatch the Storm. An earlier contest against Whitefield Academy was a slugfest, in which the Eagles prevailed over the Wolfpack. Her two-run single made the difference in what was a 12-10 victory. Anderton also singled and was hit by a pitch against Prince Avenue Christian on Thursday.

[player_tooltip player_id='103837' first='Sam' last='Porter'] helped her team with a pair of singles and an RBI. The Hurricanes' lone victory of the weekend occurred in a 12-9 decision over Pace Academy. Porter batted in a run and displayed her patience at the plate by drawing three walks.
Taylor County has been steadily rising up Georgia's high school softball ranks. That ascent continued into this season, culminating in a 28-win campaign. The Vikings were one of the final 1A Division 2 teams standing, but prior to championship Saturday, Taylor County earned a 6-0 victory over Irwin County. Summer Searcy helped her team's efforts with a hit and a run scored. The Vikings were also on the better end of a 10-0, five-inning, run-rule victory over Wilcox County. In that matchup, Searcy scored two runs, drove in two more, doubled, tripled, and drew a walk. She also drove in a run in a close contest against eventual 1A Division 2 champion Lanier County. Plus, she added a hit and a run scored in a 2-1 win over Trion.
