As we point out on numerous occasions, a few states play school ball during the fall semester. But for most of the country, much of the fall season will be taken up by travel ball schedules and showcase events, including the upcoming Prep Softball All-Star Showcases in Colorado, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Below, Prep Softball highlights five players from the high school class of 2029 to watch as fall ball gets underway.

Chloe Adams and her Elk Grove Thunder Crable 18U team recently took part in the End of the Year Birthday Bash in California. She and her team managed to reach the championship of that invite. In addition to being a right-handed pitcher, she also operates defensively at first base. At that recent tournament, Adams was one of Elk Grove Thunder Crable 18U's toughest outs. She drove in four runs on two hits in a 7-0 victory over Tehama Gold 16/18U. An Adams at-bat also broke a 3-3 tie between her team and Chico Chaos 16U as she grounded out, but an error allowed a run to score.

The DeSoto Central team that Malaia Talbot was part of last season posted a stellar 27-5 record in 2026. She recently reached an exit velocity of 64 miles per hour, but Talbot would like to get to 68 when her bat makes contact with the ball. After playing for Lady Tigers 14U Lantrip over the summer, Talbot is competing this fall with Kentucky-based Athletics Mercado 16U Foster. The team recently took part in its first tournament of the fall schedule—the 3D Showcase in Tennessee. Talbot hit .333 over the summer in addition to posting an on-base percentage of .565.

Logan Donaldson is another player who will be in a new uniform once the fall club slate commences. She will soon begin play with Beverly Bandits Bailey/Perry 2029, with the squad's first tournament being the PGF Labor Day Invite in Indiana. Donaldson previously played for Ohio Hawks King/Joseforsky 2027. Her team finished with a 5-3 record back in July at the Colorado Fourth of July event. During that tournament, Donaldson had a batting average of .500 plus an on-base percentage of .583 with nine RBIs and seven runs scored. She competed in the spring for a Jonathan Adler team that went 17-12 throughout its 2026 season.

Blake Hornyak still has some time to go before her first event with her new team, but she will be wearing an Impact Caymol National 16U Wall uniform when she suits up for her 2026 club schedule. Her schedule includes a team camp in October plus a pair of Show Me The Money events. She previously played for Team Pennsylvania Hall. Back in mid-July at the D1 Great Lakes Championship showcase, her team finished 4-0, and she went 5-for-9. Hornyak also put together a .571 batting average in July at the VA Glory Strikeout Cancer Invitational. Back in May, we at Prep Softball recognized Hornyak as an under-the-radar 2029 prospect to know.

Makenzie Leidecker recently landed an invite to USA Softball's 2026 High Performance Program. Before she makes that early December stop in Florida, she is also transitioning to a new team, as she will now wear the uniform of Tennessee Mojo Pardue. Leidecker previously was part of Birmingham Bolts Whitaker 2029/2030. At the Sparkler in early July, she batted .462 for a team that went 6-2 in Colorado. Leidecker also helped her team to a third-place finish at PGF Nationals in California. We at Prep Softball recently recognized the Scott County standout as a top 100 player in the class of 2029.

As we point out on numerous occasions, a few states play school ball during the fall semester. But for most of the country, much of the fall season will be taken up by travel ball schedules and showcase events, including the upcoming Prep Softball All-Star Showcases in Colorado, Georgia, and Tennessee.
