Summer Standouts: 2031 Prospects Gaining Momentum

These athletes are determined to sharpen their skills and heighten their talent to keep their momentum rolling in preparation for the next slew of fierce competitors to come their way.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five prospects from the high school class of 2031 who are gaining recruiting momentum this summer.    Kinsley McClain is a highly-versatile athlete who impacts the game on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she is a dynamic threat with the ability to drive the ball for power or execute a bunt for a hit with equal effectiveness. She is currently batting .381 and leads her team with 12 triples, showcasing her speed and extra-base potential. Defensively, McClain possesses a strong, accurate arm and an outstanding .980 fielding percentage, making her a dependable presence in the field. In the circle, she generates excellent movement on her pitches, and her deceptive changeup consistently keeps hitters off balance.     [player_tooltip player_id='181570' first='Gia' last='Hines'] is a dynamic leadoff hitter whose speed and high softball IQ make her a game-changing presence. She consistently sets the tone at the top of the lineup, turning hits and walks into scoring opportunities for her team. Currently batting .464 with a .506 on-base percentage, Hines leads her team with 107 runs scored and 79 stolen bases, highlighting her ability to create offense and pressure opposing defenses. Defensively, she covers exceptional ground and limits extra-base opportunities with her range. Combined with a strong, accurate throwing arm, Hines is a reliable defender who makes an impact in every phase of the game. At the plate, Frazier is batting .448, combining power with the ability to execute a bunt when the situation calls for it. She is also an aggressive, intelligent baserunner who creates pressure with her speed and instincts, making her a complete two-way player. Her combination of elite pitching, offensive power, and fearless defense makes her an impact player in every aspect of the game.     Laine Jacobs is an up-and-coming left-handed pitcher who continues to gain attention as one of the young arms to watch in the Southeast region. Pitching for Athletics Gold and Pope High School, Jacobs combines a smooth, repeatable delivery with advanced command and poise beyond her years. Her ability to change speeds, attack both sides of the plate, and compete under pressure makes her a difficult matchup for opposing hitters. At the plate, the left-handed hitter consistently produces quality contact, demonstrates a disciplined approach, and has the ability to drive the ball into the gaps. Jacobs is establishing herself as a strong two-way prospect.
