2031 Players Turning Heads Early This Summer

The summer season is off to a strong start, and plenty of 2031 players are already making an impression. Whether they're producing at the plate, making big plays on defense, or stepping up in the circle, these athletes have put together performances that are hard to ignore.   Below, Prep Softball highlights several 2031 standouts who have been turning heads early this summer.    Emily Fulford brings speed and range to the outfield, and her team trusts her to track down just about anything hit her way. She commands the outfield well and continues to make plays that give her team confidence defensively. At the plate, Fulford is a strong leadoff hitter with the ability to get on base and drive the ball with authority. She also brings plenty of energy to the dugout, where she is one of the loudest voices for her team. Whether she's running down a fly ball or setting the tone at the top of the lineup, Emily Fulford is a player her team counts on every game.     Mattie Hernandez has put together a season that's hard to overlook. The Texas Blaze United 12U standout contributes at shortstop, in the circle, and at the plate, giving her team multiple chances to win. She recorded 125 strikeouts in 90 spring and summer innings with five no-hitters before adding another 81 strikeouts in 66 fall innings. Offensively, Hernandez hit .464 with six home runs during the spring and summer seasons, then followed that with 26 hits, 16 RBIs, and two more home runs in the fall. Mattie Hernandez also maintains straight A's while taking advanced classes. Between her production in the circle and at the plate, she's built an impressive all-around season.     Ellie Armstrong continues to turn heads with the impact she has on both sides of the ball. The 2031 standout combines power, speed, and defensive ability, making her a threat every time she steps on the field. She can change an inning with her bat and put pressure on defenses with her speed. She also makes key plays in the field when her team needs them. Armstrong's athleticism and all-around game continue to stand out, and she's becoming a player more college coaches are taking notice of.     Peyton Paulson stands out for her defensive ability and power at the plate. At third base, she has some of the best hands around, pairing quick reactions with a strong arm across the diamond. Behind the plate, Paulson shows the softball IQ needed to manage the game and help her pitchers succeed. She demonstrates her leadership skills on the field, which is another reason why she stands out. She hits in the three spot and brings tremendous power to her team's lineup. Peyton Paulson's play has also earned her the opportunity to represent Team USA in Oklahoma this summer.     Luna Leija has been a valuable piece of Texas Blaze United 12U this season. Whether she's pitching or playing the infield, she has shown she can step into different roles and help her team. At the plate, Leija leads her team with 62 hits while adding more than 50 RBIs, 11 doubles, and 16 triples. Her production has been steady all season, and she continues to find ways to put pressure on opposing defenses. Few players have filled as many roles for their team this season as Luna Leija, and she continues to make the most of every opportunity she gets.     Nova Segovia has put together a strong season for Colorado Batbusters National 13U Smith/Holt. The shortstop plays with confidence and isn't afraid of the moment, making key outs and turning timely double plays that have helped her team throughout the year. She covers plenty of ground in the infield and is always looking to make the next play. At the plate, Segovia is hitting .500 and continues to be a reliable part of her team's offense. She competes hard every time she steps on the field, and her steady play on both sides of the ball has made her one of the 2031 players turning heads this summer.     Feiloaiga Masina Jennings-Nu'u is the kind of player who stands out every time she takes the field. Whether she's behind the plate or at shortstop, she plays with confidence and gives her team a steady presence on defense. Her receiving skills, leadership, and strong arm allow her to make an impact at multiple positions. At the plate, Jennings-Nu'u pairs a high-contact swing with power, making her a threat to drive in runs or change a game with one swing. Her complete skill set is a big reason why she's becoming one of the 2031 players people are talking about.     Callie Steed continues to stand out with the way she plays the game. The Ohio Lasers 2031 Steed middle infielder can beat teams in several different ways, whether she's laying down a bunt, slapping the ball, or driving it into the gaps. She's hitting .395 with 15 RBIs and 11 sacrifice hits, and hasn't been caught stealing all season. Defensively, Steed has been just as steady, posting a .981 fielding percentage with 51 putouts and two double plays. Her ability to make routine plays, create offense, and play the game with confidence has made her a 2031 player worth watching.
