Five 2029 Competitors Who Never Back Down

Sometimes the toughest competitors aren't the ones with the biggest names or the flashiest stats. They can, however, be the players who make the most significant impact on the softball field when it matters most.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five competitors from the high school graduating class of 2029 who never back down.    Elaina Gonzalez from Florida is a true competitor. The 5'8" right-handed pitcher and first baseman is a hard worker, who consistently puts in effort both on and off the softball field. Gonzalez, who can also hold her own at the plate, has attended multiple college camps and clinics already, in order to improve her skills and get seen by college coaches in the process. Competing on the club circuit for Windemere Wildfire - Kaylor 18U, Gonzalez also plays for The Villages in school ball. To boot, she holds a 4.25 GPA in the classroom.     Quinn Zweibohmer out of Iowa is another player who can do it all and compete with the best of them. The right-handed pitcher and outfielder can be a force all over the field, but especially in the circle. She plays for Iowa Premier 14U National Dickel/Paz in travel ball, and is a true student-athlete at Wapello High School, as she maintains a 3.86 GPA in the classroom. Expect Zweibohmer to continue to post gaudy numbers in the circle and put in a ton of work on her own away from team practices and games.     Lexus "Lou" Blair from Ohio is another player who uses her competitive edge to succeed on the softball field. Competing for the Youngstown, Ohio-based FP Select 16U, Blair is a left-handed pitcher, who also plays in the outfield and at first base, while batting from the left side of the plate. Blair's versatility provides her team with plenty of options, and she is a true student-athlete at Claymont High School, as she holds a 4.38 GPA in the classroom. She earned Second-Team All-IVC and Second-Team All-East District for her performance on the diamond with Claymont as a freshman this spring.     Alexa Kunkle has a unique competitive edge as someone who plays both softball and baseball. Kunkle, who attends DePaul College Prep in Illinois and maintains a 3.95 GPA, competes on the club softball circuit with Iowa Premier Gold Shraiberg 16U. The middle infielder and utility player is also a three-time MLB Trailblazer and three-time Baseball For All International participant, giving her tremendous experience competing against stick-and-ball athletes from all over the world.     Hailing from Florida and standing at 5'11", Madyson Lauer is one of the more competitive athletes from her region. The standout right-handed pitcher and outfielder plays club ball for Tampa Mustangs Bedenbaugh 16U and school ball for Durant High School, where she possesses a 4.0 GPA. Lauer's competitive fire is aided by all the extra work she puts in on her own with both her strength coach and pitching coach. With continued work and improvement, we expect Lauer to make major waves as a highly-touted prospect in her class with a bright future ahead of her.
