Not only did Gia Salazar turn in one of the best freshman seasons in the country, but she's also one of the best up-and-coming players, period. The Las Vegas native terrified pitchers across the state to the tune of a .750 batting average for the season. She racked up 36 hits, 36 runs scored, 38 stolen bases, 19 RBIs, nine doubles, six home runs, two triples, and an astounding .821 on-base percentage while playing for the Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles. But that's not all. She also had three wins in the circle, a solid 2.20 ERA, and 88 strikeouts over 16 appearances. Unsurprisingly, she also played solid defense and finished the season with a .956 fielding percentage, along with 20 assists and 23 putouts. Quite simply, in only one season, she became possibly the most feared player in the state. Case in point, she drew 17 walks, and only had two strikeouts all season.

The Ragsdale Tigers had a season to remember. Not only did they win their first-ever conference title in program history with a 19-3 record, but they also did so powered by a trio of freshmen, including Ellie Cuthrell. The six-foot infielder concluded the magical season with a .650 batting average, including 46 RBIs, 46 runs scored, 39 hits, 18 stolen bases, 13 doubles, seven home runs, five triples, and a .767 on-base percentage. To boot, over half of her hits went for extra bases, she had a great eye at the plate and drew 20 free passes, and she committed only two errors in the field all season. There has also been absolutely no let up following her fantastic freshman campaign. So far this summer with Carolina Legacy, she has already gone deep once, and had a productive first tournament of the travel ball season with four RBIs.

MacKenna McMahan dominated nearly every offensive category for the Somonauk Bobcats this season. Her .632 batting average led the team, along with her 48 hits, 37 RBIs, 30 runs, 15 doubles, five home runs, and .671 on-base percentage. She is able to generate plenty of power without overswinging, makes good contact, has power to all fields, and has a good eye at the plate. Defensively, she also shines and is as dependable as they come in crunch time. She had 11 assists for the Bobcats, along with 21 putouts, and only committed three errors for a .914 fielding percentage.

You may have heard Mila Hamley's name before—she did, after all, strike out 14 batters in one game at the Little League World Series just two years ago. However, she hasn't stopped there. In her freshman season for the always-competitive Austintown-Fitch Falcons, Hamley was magnificent. She had a record of 22-1 in the circle, a minuscule 0.84 ERA, only 17 earned runs allowed, and 206 strikeouts compared to only 40 walks. Her most impressive highlight came on the first day of the postseason. Over five perfect innings, she struck out 12 batters, en route to a 19-0 victory against the McKinley Bulldogs. Her pitches start out as strikes, but end up tailing away, leading to half-hearted swings and quick trips back to the dugout. She already has a mastery of the strike zone, and is guaranteed to be near the top of recruiting lists nationwide.

Addie Henley was nearly perfect for the Mercy Panthers, who finished the season with their highest single-season win total in 14 years. The Louisville native compiled 149 strikeouts in the circle to go along with an 18-1 record and a 1.11 ERA. Henley has impeccable control, confidence in her command, and does not allow hard contact. Case in point, she only allowed 25 walks and four home runs. She also fields her position well, represented by a perfect fielding percentage and 10 assists. At the plate, she crushed three doubles, drove in nine runs, and had 15 hits. She has already proven she can handle being on the big stage, and is primed for a successful summer and sophomore season ahead.
