Below, Prep Softball takes a look at five talented high school sophomores who are making an immediate impact this season.    At the club level, Tegan Figueroa has consistently been a key offensive presence, combining discipline, focus, and smart decision-making at the plate. She understands the importance of timing, positioning, and strategy, creating scoring opportunities for her team and putting pressure on opposing defenses. Defensively, she is equally impressive with an ability to anticipate plays and make pivotal contributions in high-pressure situations. Figueroa's energy and leadership skills extend beyond her individual performance. She motivates teammates with her work ethic, encourages collaboration, and leads by example. Her well-rounded game allows her to influence outcomes on both sides of the ball, making her a true catalyst for team success this season.     Claire Townsend is a dynamic athlete whose presence on the field elevates any team she plays for. As an infielder, she combines resilience, instinct, and precision, making her a dependable force across all positions. Her defensive awareness allows her to anticipate plays and react with speed and accuracy, consistently preventing runs from scoring and providing stability in high-pressure situations. Beyond her defensive capabilities, Townsend approaches the plate with intelligence and discipline. She reads pitchers well, adjusts her approach to each at-bat, and creates opportunities for her team to score, reflecting both her skill and strategic understanding of the game. During her freshman season with the top-ranked 6A Sunset Apollos, Townsend quickly became a key contributor, earning recognition for her ability to perform consistently on both offense and defense.     Reese Strode is a dynamic and versatile athlete whose blend of speed, strength, and competitive instinct makes her a standout player. In the circle, she combines power and precision, commanding the position with confidence and composure. Her ability to read hitters, adjust her approach, and execute pitches under pressure has established her as a reliable and impactful pitcher for her teams. Offensively, Strode is equally impressive. She approaches the plate with intelligence, discipline, and an aggressive yet controlled mindset, consistently creating scoring opportunities. Her speed and instincts on the bases make her a constant threat, forcing opposing defenses to remain alert and often producing game-changing moments. Elly Casey is an exceptionally talented and versatile athlete whose impact is felt at every corner of the diamond. As a freshman pitcher, she quickly emerged as a dependable and dominant presence in the circle, proving that her ability to read hitters, adjust her approach, and perform under pressure makes her a cornerstone for her teams. At the plate, Casey is equally formidable. She approaches each at-bat with discipline and strategic awareness, consistently creating opportunities for her team to score. Zoey Highfill enters her second year as a key starter for both Fort Vancouver High School and the Oregon Blaze, bringing a combination of power, skill, and determination to every game she plays in. She consistently provides strength in the heart of the lineup, contributing not only with her ability to hit for power, but also with her disciplined approach and consistent contact at the plate. Defensively, Highfill is a standout behind the plate. Her strong and accurate arm allows her to control the running game, consistently challenging baserunners and making key plays that shift the momentum of games. Her instincts, awareness, and composure in high-pressure situations make her a reliable and impactful player in every contest. Highfill's leadership skills and strong work ethic inspire those around her, making her an impactful presence both on and off the field.
