<p>Below, Prep Softball highlights five two-way players who are standing out from the high school graduating class of 2028.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">With her strength going both ways, Faith Mayfield has brought an impactful presence to Sandra Day O'Connor to start the 2026 season. After 18 games, Mayfield is hitting .407 with 17 runs batted in, up from last year's average. She has a 2-2 record so far with a 1.09 ERA, having struck out 100 batters to date this season. In the Brittany Tucker Memorial Tournament, Mayfield was an all-tournament selection for her .444 showing at the plate and 27 strikeouts in the circle. Mayfield has visited South Carolina, Iowa State, UCF, and Utah so far in her recruiting process.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Adrienne Heinicka has become one of the most impressive players in her class through her skill both as a pitcher and hitter. In her first eight sophomore high school games, Heinicka has taken to the circle four times, allowing four earned runs in 18 innings. She has batted .379 during that time with four runs scored and five RBI. She played for Power Softball Hannigan during the club season, for whom she hit .600 at the Show Me the Money tournament, among other successes. Heinicka visited Georgia Southern, Louisiana, and Charlotte over the winter, and will continue to develop over her high school career.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">After beginning varsity play in seventh grade, Mackenzie Sease brings plenty of high school experience into her sophomore year. In her first four high school games of 2026, Sease is hitting .500 with five RBIs on the young season. In the circle, Sease has earned two wins with a perfect 0.00 ERA over 14 innings. Her impressive start comes after an HSSR all-state selection in 2025. Sease represents LLG for her club ball, for whom she hit .543 and allowed opponents to hit just .117, striking out 83 batters in 40.1 innings pitched. Sease attended camp at Clemson and South Carolina in December, as she continues her recruiting journey.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Consistently touted as one of the best players in her class, Destinee Herrera has started her high school season well this year. In her first six high school games with Oxnard this year, Herrera has hit .467 with four RBI. She has earned three pitching wins across six appearances, striking out 34 en route to a 1.93 ERA against a tough set of opponents in California. While it is still early, both performances represent improvements over her freshman season. Herrera spent the winter on the basketball court, where she was a Ventura County first-team selection. During her busy softball offseason, Herrera also visited UCLA for camp, as she progresses toward being eligible for full recruitment in September.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Tara Tarnowski has stood out in Texas this season with her pitching and hitting skills against difficult opponents. Playing for Bridgeland, Tarnowski is hitting .325 through her first 18 games of her sophomore year with one home run. She has pitched 53.1 innings, striking out 80 batters and sporting an 8-2 record and a 1.31 ERA. A selection to USA Softball's 2025 junior national team, Tarnowski visited Arkansas, Clemson, and Florida State in early 2026. The top programs in the country are looking for players with Tarnowski's type of talent.</p>
