2027s Who Made The Jump From Solid To Special

Some players don't just get better—they take a leap. This summer, a group of 2027s proved they're no longer simply reliable contributors but rising stars who elevated their games to another level.   Below, Prep Softball takes a close look at some 2027 prospects who made the jump from solid to special this summer.    Norah Jacques still has a bit of time to prepare before taking to the diamond in the spring in the green and gold hues of Langley. Her final tournament of the club softball summer season with 18U VA Glory National Willemssen took place at Alliance Nationals in Indianapolis. Jacques led her team to the Super Regionals of the tournament by taking to the circle in four games, hurling 24.2 innings and allowing only four walks and five earned runs to 23 strikeouts. She also tossed 13.2 innings with 23 strikeouts, while allowing only one run at Atlanta Legacy. Jacques will play for a Saxons team that finished 17-7-1 last season.      Gracyn Fuller is a multi-sport athlete who competes on the basketball hardwood alongside her softball accomplishments. The regular season is already in full swing in Georgia, and Fuller has established herself as one of the signature standouts in the 2027 class. She has played at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader, and is leading the Peach State in RBIs by a junior with 18. Where Fuller has particularly made her presence known is in the circle. She currently leads the state's 2027s in ERA at 0.33. Fuller is already 8-1, having pitched 42.1 innings and allowing only two earned runs and eight walks to 101 strikeouts. First Presbyterian Day has started the 2025 season with a 9-1 record.     Speaking of multi-sport athletes, Katie Drummond enters the chat. A 5-foot-10 standout from softball-hotbed Oklahoma, Drummond defines basketball as her second sport of choice. As of this writing, Drummond is tied for the state lead in RBIs with 11. She has played in 12 of the 14 games Pawhuska has played so far this season, and the .452 average Drummond has posted thus far has her in the top 10 among Oklahoma 2027s. That average includes four doubles and one triple, plus 10 runs scored. Drummond is coming off a club softball season in which she wore the uniform of Epic National 16U Smith.     Bailey Nixon turned in a stellar summer club softball campaign with Fury Platinum Florida Bianco 16U, and she is more than poised to translate that into a big junior campaign with 7A Wellington, who is last season's 7A state champion. In June, her team took part in the Scenic City Showcase in Chattanooga. There, Nixon posted a .583 batting average plus an on-base percentage of .571, including four hits on the first day of the tournament. Prior to Scenic City, her team also took part in the Hugs and Homers Classic in South Florida. She had another impressive showing at the plate, posting a .571 average in addition to a .667 on-base percentage. It appears Gretta Wynja got the memo. Wynja's Lyons team has started this season with a 5-1 record in large part due to her right arm. She has already fanned 47 batters, which is tops among Colorado juniors and second overall in the state. Wynja has only allowed 10 runs and 13 walks in the 30 innings she has pitched, and boasts a 4-1 record with a 2.33 ERA. By virtue of her .588 batting average, four doubles and the 15 runs she has plated for the Lions, Wynja is getting the job done at the dish as well.
