Across the country, young outfielders are emerging with impressive skills, standout performances, and potential.</p>   <p>What distinguishes this group goes beyond raw athleticism—it includes finesse, instincts, and the ability to influence the game in various ways.</p>   <p>Here's a look at seven names you'll want to remember as the season unfolds, and potentially long after that.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">North Carolina</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Holland Weisner is the kind of player every team wants—she is focused, fearless, and energetic. She is a 2027 outfielder and first baseman from Team NC Bowman and South Caldwell High School. She maintains a 4.4 GPA and is ranked in the top 10 of her class at South Caldwell. On the field, Weisner approaches the game with intensity and strong leadership, as she is always vocal in the outfield and supportive of her teammates. She showcases exceptional range in the outfield and delivers accurate throws, making difficult plays look routine. Her performance so far at the plate during the 2025 high school season speaks volumes: she's batted .467 with 7 home runs and 29 RBIs in just 18 games. Weisner is an outstanding student-athlete to watch throughout the remainder of this high school season and over the summer as well.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Missouri</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Zariya Mabion is an exceptional outfielder in the 2027 class from Raymore Peculiar High School. She maintains a 4.0 GPA, showcasing her focus as a complete student-athlete. Mabion has earned honors such as All-Conference, All-District, and All-Region and was named a PGF All-American Finalist as well. Mabion is a game-changer on the field who excels both on offense and defense. She is an outstanding outfielder on defense, showcasing her energy, athleticism, and arm strength. Mabion consistently gets on base and drives the ball into gaps as a powerful left-handed hitter. She is also capable of hitting home runs. Coaches admire her enthusiastic willingness to learn, infectious positive attitude, and unwavering determination. These qualities have set her apart and captured the attention of several prominent Power 4 programs that are eager to engage with her talent. Mabion appears ready to continue gaining attention nationwide throughout the rest of her high school season and into travel ball season as well.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Texas</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Rowan Pike is an exciting outfielder and a versatile utility player for Iowa Park High School. She brings energy, grit, and leadership to every game. Competing in the highly competitive 7- 3A district, she has posted impressive statistics so far in the 2025 high school season: a .538 batting average, a .625 on-base percentage, a 1.317 OPS, and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Known as a standout player on her high school and travel ball teams, she consistently makes clutch diving catches in the outfield and isn't afraid to get dirty. She is a defensive powerhouse with her powerful arm and strong softball IQ. On offense, whether she is driving the ball into gaps or executing perfect bunts, Pike consistently finds a way to get on base. Once she is on, her smart base running shines through. Pike is a fearless competitor and a dedicated player who stands out among top talent, making her someone to watch.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Washington</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Jemma Lopez is an impressive student-athlete for Stanwood High School, making her mark as someone who is relatively new to softball. She is a former competitive dancer and multi-sport athlete who brings exceptional athleticism to the field. Lopez has a .321 batting average in nine games this season, a .441 OBP, and a .977 OPS, leading her team with 12 RBIs. She's scored nine runs and stolen six bases, showcasing her speed and agility. At the plate, Lopez excels as a slapper, thanks to her speed, but also has the power to drive the ball when needed. On defense, she excels in the outfield with her quick movements and speed, easily tracking down every ball hit her way. Her contributions have helped Stanwood achieve an 8-1 record so far. Off the field and academically, Lopez maintains a 3.5 GPA, coaches a 4th grade volleyball team, and has been invited to join the National Honor Society, showcasing her dedication both on and off the field. As a true student of the game with an exceptional work ethic and attention to detail, Staniford is having a standout season for Squalicum High School. She has an impressive batting average of .500, an on-base percentage of .593, and a slugging percentage of 1.320. Additionally, she has recorded 8 stolen bases, scored 11 runs, and collected 10 RBIs. On offense, Staniford is powerful and confidently steps into the batter's box. She maintains a strong, confident presence in the outfield, using her vocal leadership and readiness to make plays. Staniford maintains a 4.0 GPA off the field and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Bible Club. She also demonstrates her values through service with Water Church, where she distributes food, water, and hot cocoa to those in need. Her leadership, heart, and hustle truly set her apart.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Colorado</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Gwen Thewes is an exceptional outfielder for Legend High School and a proud member of the Colorado Batbusters 16U National '27/'28 team. Thewes thrives under pressure and makes her high-impact presence felt in every game. During her sophomore season at Legend High School, she achieved an impressive batting average of .407, hitting 4 home runs and recording 22 RBIs. Offensively, she demonstrated significant power at the plate, making her a player her coaches want up when runners are on base. In the outfield, Thewes shines as a defensive powerhouse. She uses her speed to cover ground in the outfield, while also showcasing her strong and accurate arm, which allows her to make crucial plays. She excels as an outfielder and a second baseman for both squads. Additionally, Terry maintains a 3.9 GPA, highlighting her commitment as a student-athlete. Defensively, she is versatile, being smooth and confident as both an outfielder and a second baseman. She showcases her quick reflexes and speed in the outfield, demonstrating excellent range and a strong, accurate arm. Terry, a left-handed slap hitter, has an impressive home-to-first time of 2.7 seconds, highlighting her explosive speed and ability to put pressure on the defense every time she steps into the batter's box.
