About Victoria

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am engaged and competitive on the mound, at the plate, and in the field. I chose to become a pitcher because I like taking control of the flow of a game and being a leader for my teammates. I'm committed to continuous improvement and in games, I take note of areas that I need to improve for the next time then focus on those areas during practice.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have an outgoing personality and like to connect with teammates and coaches. When pitching, my mentality is to work the zone and strike out the batter. I know that won't always happen, but that's my mentality when a batter steps up to the plate.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was selected to join a group of students to travel to Ecuador this Fall to do scientific research and community service work. Each summer, I work on expanding my academics. Last summer, I took a full year course in Geometry and this summer, I am learning computer science through Georgia Tech.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed community service skills in my local community by volunteering with organizations like The Nicholas House (homeless shelter), Solidarity Sandy Springs (food pantry), and Rise Against Hunger. I've also worked as an umpire for younger softball leagues at the local park and work on leadership qualities through my softball teams.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I found out in third grade that I have dyslexia, which has been a challenge to overcome. For two years, I went to a school focused on intense remediation. Since then, I've learned to make the most out of my academic strength in math and science. Dyslexic thinkers see the world from many angles and I think that has helped me stand out academically in subjects like biology and life science.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college that can expand both my softball and academic life. I want to pursue a degree either in biology or engineering but would love to do so while continuing to play softball.
