At the beginning of the year, we also recognized Tia Peterson as a top 2030 prospect to watch out of Iowa. Playing up in class against 16U competition, as she did at the PGF Nationals in California, is a testament to her status as a rising talent. The middle infield, as well as the outfield, are where Peterson plays defensively. Peterson knows how to get her glove in front of the ball and displays an effective backhand throw. She places plenty of emphasis on throwing velocity, and will practice with and without a ball during defensive drills. Peterson recently concluded her summer season with a .423 average, 21 runs scored, and 24 RBIs.
