About Ryleigh
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I would describe my gameplay style as competitive. I am very athletic and very aggressive to the ball.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
my mentality towards the game is you play for the name on the front of the jersey not the number on the back. I am a great teammate and always encourage my teammates to strive for the best. I always try to pick my teammates up when they are down. My personality is very bubbly. I can be silly, but also know when to be professional and have my head in the game.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am involved in the sports medicine program at my high school. Last year I received student of the month for sports medicine. My teacher said I received this award due to showing much commitment to the program even though it was softball season and I didn’t have much time.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
for community service, I have helped little ones learn to play the game. I have also helped special needs adults play softball this entailed helping them hit the ball, running the bases, or even delay a catch so one of the adults could make it on base. My oldest brother has down syndrome. He has taught me empathy, he has taught me compassion, but the most important is everyone is unique.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I spaced significant challenges when I was younger. I was told I was too small to play middle infield. I was told I would never be an effective pitcher. I use this as fuel to strengthen my game. I always believed it wasn’t the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog to become the best you can be.
What type of college are you looking for?
I would prefer to stay on the West Coast. Although I am not picky about the type of college because I just want to play. I would love for a school to allow me to be a premed student and play the game. I know that’s a challenging schedule, but I am willing to accept the challenge to later on help people.
