About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play catcher, 3B, and can step in anywhere as a utility. At the plate, I’m a power hitter who can also stay consistent and get on base. On defense, I’ve got a quick release and strong arm, and I always bring hype and energy to keep my team locked in.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Even though I just turned 15, I’m playing up on an 18U A-level team. I’m grateful for every opportunity to compete at that level and keep proving myself. I take pride in being mature, coachable, and team-first. People say I stay composed in big moments, and I always give full effort, pushing myself to keep getting better while bringing energy to every game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Before I dedicated myself fully to softball, I spent several years competing in equestrian eventing from ages 6–11. I earned over 60 ribbons in jumping and cross-country, but more important than the awards were the lessons I learned about discipline, focus, courage, and leadership. Even though softball is now my focus, those experiences shaped who I am as an athlete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being a catcher has taught me how important leadership and communication are. I work to keep my pitchers confident and my team locked in. Guest playing on different teams has also taught me to put the team first, adapt to whatever role is needed, and always bring positive energy. Outside of my own games, I also help teach younger girls (ages 7–10) and love helping them build confidence and learn.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been always being the youngest. In 3rd and 4th grade, I was the only elementary school student competing on a high school Equestrian team. Now, at 15, I’m the youngest player on an 18U A-level softball team - and the only one without a driver’s license. Being younger can be intimidating, but it’s pushed me to mature faster, work harder, and stay confident.
