Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
When I'm catching I am watching the whole field- I'm looking for the other teams call signs, keeping an eye on the runners, signaling and communicating with my infield and pitcher and always keeping that ball in front of me and looking for the out. Stay sharp, be quick and make good throws.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Attitude can make all the difference in a game. I've worked hard to make the best play I can and then leave it and move on and also help my teammates do the same. Too many times on my teams I've seen one error or bad decision lead to discouragement and several players making more errors. We are often our worst critic and I am learning more and more how to focus on the moment and keep positive.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am currently homeschooled (and have been my whole life). Although not an official part of any other clubs (besides softball), I participate in church related activities volunteering for Vacation Bible School and such. I am starting to take some classes at the local high school though.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I've always been active in community service through our church- visiting elderly in nursing homes, volunteering at community dinners and local events. We recently moved and I'm beginning to find some connections in our new town. Even though I have a more sensitive caring nature I love to use that to build others up and take time to help teach and train young catchers and work with other players.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Two years ago, our family had to leave all of our friends and family and move away and start a new life. We had been involved in a family church that turned toxic and it was importantly for my parents to leave in order to keep their integrity. I sometimes miss my friends but we stay in touch. It's been a challenge to start over in a community that doesn't know us but I have been making friends.
What type of college are you looking for?
Ultimately I want to be a Nurse and possibly work as a paramedic in the military or with injured veterans. I love caring for people. I love playing softball and it is my main passion (besides nursing) and I would love to get a scholarship for playing softball! D1 or D2 would be amazing and I'm willing to go wherever however I love my family but they are talking about moving if need be.
