About Lyla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My softball style is aggressive but smart, and I play with a strong work ethic. I try to be versatile and always look for ways to get better and help my team win. Whether I’m making defensive plays or hitting, I play hard, stay coachable, and support my teammates.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality on the field is to stay focused, work hard, and not give up. I try to stay calm under pressure and always give my best effort no matter what’s happening. I keep a positive attitude, encourage my teammates, and try to learn from my mistakes so I can keep getting better.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volunteering at Little League softball clinics has helped me build leadership, patience, and teamwork. I enjoy teaching younger players the fundamentals and helping them develop the same passion for softball that I have. As a captain on my club team, I try to lead by example, stay positive, support my teammates, and always put the team before myself so we can succeed together.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I faced was when my club softball team unexpectedly disbanded after the fall season. It was stressful because I had to spend extra time contacting programs and searching for a new team that had roster space, played a competitive schedule, and could help increase my recruiting exposure. The experience taught me to stay persistent and keep working toward my goals.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can continue to develop both athletically and academically. I want a school that supports my athletic goals while offering strong academic programs, especially in sports medicine, as that’s the field I’m interested in pursuing. It’s important to me to find a balance between excelling in my sport and advancing my education for a successful future.
