About Leya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a vocal leader who plays with confidence and energy. I like keeping my teammates locked in and bringing positive momentum to the field.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have an extremely competitive mindset and a strong drive to improve every day. I stay focused, positive, and push myself to be better.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I’m involved in journalism and help create my school’s yearbook. I also complete around 18 hours of community service each school year, which I really enjoy because it allows me to give back and stay connected to my community.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership and communication skills through both sports and school activities. Being part of a team has taught me how to stay positive, encourage others, and handle pressure while keeping everyone focused on a common goal.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I’ve faced challenges balancing academics, sports, and other commitments. It’s taught me how to manage my time, stay disciplined, and stay positive even when things get tough

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m really interested in a program with strong academic reputation, school spirit, and sense of tradition. I love the community atmosphere while emphasizing leadership, service, and excellence — those are all qualities I value.

Leya De La Torre Leya De La Torre Leya De La Torre 2B/OF Brennan | 2030 TX is a player any team would love to be able to plug in at the top of its lineup. She is a triple threat in the batter’s box who can bunt, slap and hit away, as she demonstrated in October at the Diamond State Invitational in Arkansas. De La Torre batted .500 with a .545 on-base percentage and drove in five runs that weekend. Her bat control skills are highly advanced for her age, but she takes the most pride in her defense, both at the middle infield positions and in the outfield. Even slight bobbles don’t faze De La Torre — as long as she keeps the ball in front of her, she can gather it in and still make the play. She has impressive range to her backhand side and makes clean transfers from her glove to her throwing hand.
