About Leilani

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am player who brings size, power, and versatility to the game. I always want to find a way to win, and will execute what is needed as a multi-tool player to make that happen. I may not be the loudest voice on the field but I am always ready to lift my team up, while thinking about the plays ahead. I am focused and calm.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a "can't be beat" mentality. Both of the sports I compete in at a high level (softball and wrestling) are HARD; mentally and physically. Failure will happen, and I have learned to bet on myself, quietly keep my head down and work through it because I know I capable of great things.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

National Junior Honor Society: I will be eligible to be inducted into NHS next year as a sophomore Superintendents Honor Roll all 4 years of MS Oklahoma Middle School Honor Society All 4 years Presidential Academic Excellence Award Native American Club

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a a multisport athlete who is also highly involved in my tribal community. I compete in at a high level in softball, wrestling, and Native American dance. I have learned that I am a lead by example person, by my actions, by my response to those in need, and by what my coaches and teammates need. I help to continue our Native culture through dance providing education at events and schools,

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My family and tribal community is my world. We have been dealt some tough cards of loss and illness. I have the reality that the people you hold dear wont be there forever. We buried my 7yr old niece , and my Uncle the same week in 2023. While the previous 2 yrs laid to rest 2 Uncles, Auntie, my Grandpa, all while my Dad was recovering from cancer and another extended illness.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am striving for a fit that has academics and athletics that will prepare me for my career interests. A softball program that competes at a high level and creates a culture of family. And within this culture they develop not only the player but the future woman, having a high graduation/career placement rate.
