About Laine

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an all out player always giving 100% effort and focus to each and every play. I love competing so I will do whatever it takes for the team’s success.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a positive leader on the field. I will be the loudest cheerer and communicator and will always there always pick up a teammate. I am driven and competitive on and off the field. I pride myself in my work ethic, academically with a 4.5 and athletically to reach my goals, which I am so proud to have committed to my dream school Notthwestern University.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

National Honor Society Link Crew leader Current events club (founder and secretary) Excellence in Writing Award (Soph. Year) Academic letter for 4.0 GPA all semesters

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through NHS, I have done many community service events locally as well as on a larger scale with Fight Against Hunger & the Second Harvest Food Bank. I have learned many leadership skills through being a Link Crew leader for the last 2 years. I lead freshman orientation activities and other events during the school year.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge in my life is dealing with food allergies. When I was 6, I went into anaphylactic shock after eating one cashew. As an athlete, you need to eat a high protein diet with many nutrient dense foods, however being allergic to Treenuts, peanuts, legumes, and having sensitivity too many vegetables, this is challenging and isolating. I learned how to advocate for myself and keep safe

What type of college are you looking for?

Committed to my dream school, Northwestern University.

A Northwestern commit from talent-rich Northern California, Macosky’s stock continues to rise as a junior, particularly with her defense at shortstop. And it’s not that her offense has been lacking—she is batting .458 at the time of this writing through eight games this year with three doubles, two triples and a home run. But Macosky’s glove is already elite. She can dive to her backhand side to stop hard-hit ground balls, then make a strong, accurate throw to first base from her knees. Macosky can also drive the ball in the air with authority to both the pull side and the opposite field. She was named to the East Bay Athletic League first team last spring, helping Livermore win the league title and reach the North Coast Section Division II championship game.
