Kyla Paul is an emerging leader behind the plate in the 2030 class, competing with Top Gun National 14U SKIM and attending Doral Academy in Florida. A USA HPP National Selection Event invitee and USA All-American at the 12U level, Paul has consistently proven herself on big stages. Her ability to handle pitching staffs and control the tempo of the game stands out, along with her defensive toughness and work ethic. With experience at both catcher and in the infield, Paul’s versatility and competitive edge make her a key contributor and a player to follow closely.

Kyla Paul played varsity softball as a seventh grader, and while her numbers weren’t eye-popping, they show that she already belonged at that level, as she got on base more than half the time with an impressive 1.075 OPS in 21 games. Paul’s bat speed is immediately apparent — she can send the ball over the fence with barely more than a flick of the wrists. She hunts pitches on the outer half of the strike zone and even slightly off the plate, with her ability to extend her arms and still find the barrel. Paul fields her position exceptionally well behind the plate, leaping out of her crouch to pounce on swinging bunts, then spinning and firing a perfect strike to first base. She is just as good defensively at the corner infield spots, and is an accomplished student as well.

During her travel ball seasons, Kyla Paul sports the uniform of Top Gun National 14U SKIM, meaning she is playing up in class. Paul has also put forth plenty of impressive effort with her Doral Academy team, which is one of the premier softball teams in the country, that claimed 6A Florida state championships in 2021 and 2025. In addition to how she helps her teams out as a catcher, Paul will also spend plenty of time on the diamond as an infielder. Paul’s quick release, along with her accurate arm and timing, will throw out plenty of baserunners looking to steal an additional bag. Whether it is during the school season or in club softball, Paul has more than proven that she belongs on the same field as the more experienced players around her.

Kyla Paul has some serious pop in her bat, and that might be an understatement. On Sept. 22, she went 5-for-9 at the plate with three home runs, two doubles, and 10 RBIs. The following month, she was up to her old tricks again, going 3-for-5 with eight RBIs. She is composed in the batter’s box, and is able to produce an enormous amount of power to all fields without overswinging. Behind the dish, she has a rocket of an arm, strong accuracy, little-to-no movement behind the plate, and good rapport with her pitchers. She is an energetic and supportive teammate who clearly loves the game. All of these qualities will bode well for her in the future as a leader of her teams.
