About Kadyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Competitive, focused and driven. When I am on the mound I want the ball in big games and big game situations. I love to compete and be a leader on the field. When I am on the mound I have the right mindset to assess each situation and batter and execute. At bat, I have a team first approach. When not pitching and on the field I believe I can catch and field every ball no matter where its hit.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Softball has taught me that failure is a given in this sport but is the best way to learn and grow. In addition, it has taught me that there is always room for improvement and to never settle and to always keep believing in yourself. On the field I strive to be a leader and competitor and trust our teamwork. Off the field, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

For clubs, I am a member of NHS, ASB, ITS as well as student ambassadors at my school. I was the Salutatorian at my middle school and each of my years at high school I have been on the Highest Honor Roll. Also, I participate in my school's drama club and have participated in 5 theatre productions and currently working on my 6th. On my last production I played Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I believe I have developed leadership and teamwork skills. I have been a jr umpire for the last 3 years and my mentor Dan has taught me a lot about how to be an umpire and leader calling the game. Also, my pitching coach Bob has really focused on being that leader on the mound. Lastly, Marty Tyson has taught me to be a fierce competitor, to believe in myself, and that my heart is as big as anyone.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My biggest challenge has to be being born premature by 2 months and staying in the NICU to help me gain weight and stabilize my health. My parents were there everyday with me and my twin sister and spent all the time they could with us to hold us, feed us, read to us and love us.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a great academic and softball program. A program that can help me continue to grow as a player and person.
