As a Georgia native, Janay Smith had a quick turnaround from her summer travel schedule with Lady Dukes National 14U Flowers/Lamar to school ball. The said school ball campaign is already underway with 7A Seckinger. Smith places plenty of emphasis on not only her throwing, but also her footwork. Hustle plays, such as reacting quickly to batted balls, are another point of emphasis for Smith, as is her ability to defensively operate at other positions. In addition to playing as a catcher, Smith will also be set up at first and third base defensively. Smith recently clocked a new personal-best exit velocity as a batter at 71 miles per hour.
