About Gracie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play to win. Whether I’m behind the plate or in the box, I stay assertive and hold myself to a high standard. At the plate, I’m not afraid to attack early; first pitches are often the best pitches. Defensively, I love keeping runners honest and I’m quick to throw behind if they get too comfortable. Catching is my favorite spot on the field; it’s where I lead, stay locked in, and compete hardest.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m active in Beta Club and FCA. As a Beta Buddy, I support our special needs students during Special Olympics, field trips, and rise time, which allows me to contribute to my school and community. FCA gives me a place to express my faith and connect with other Christian athletes who share the same values. I have received under classman awards in business and foreign language.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being a catcher means leading from the field. I’ve learned to communicate with pitchers and coaches, stay calm under pressure, and be honest, even when it’s hard. That leadership has helped me become more confident and assertive on and off the field.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Being a multisport student-athlete comes with its challenges. Balancing church, school, sports, family, and friends while still trying to be a teenager, has pushed me to grow. It’s taught me lessons in time management and self-care. I’ve learned to stay organized, plan ahead, and never wait to do what can be done now. Balance isn’t always easy, but I’ve gotten better at it, it's made me stronger.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking at colleges that offers a strong academic program in Business/Human Relations, with good support for student-athletes. I want to be part of a program that values both academic and athletic excellence, values growth, and offers a supportive community.

Known for her fierce intensity on the field, she demonstrates her passion for the game. She earned All-Conference, All-District, and All-State recognition in her first season at Bunker Hill. Setzer primarily plays behind the plate, showcasing her strong arm and leadership abilities. However, she can also play second base if needed, as she did during her freshman season. She excels at controlling the game from behind the plate and preventing runners from stealing bases. She also stands out for her powerful batting and ability to take extra bases.
