About Frances

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a hard-working and focused player on the field determined to get my job done.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a cheerful, hard-working person. I like to set goals for myself to achieve everything I want athletically, academically, and extra circularly.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in 4H, French Club, Tennis Team, and National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). I have received first place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show with my Jersey Heifer, Reserve Grand Champion with my beef Red Holstein, Grand Champion with my Jersey, Reserve Champion 4H Clover Award, and a nomination for the NSHSS.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership skills through softball and being the Treasurer for my 4H club. I have also developed teamwork through softball and learning how to support everyone and make everyone have a good chemistry with each other.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced the challenge of moving around a lot as a kid. My Dad was in the Navy for 14 years, which caused us to move around to several different states. On the positive side, this has grown my adaptability and communication skills.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a medium sized college with a competitive softball team with good team chemistry. I am also looking for a college that will shape me into the person best for my future career.

Frances Safford Frances Safford Frances Safford 3B/UTL Bishop McDevitt | 2028 PA is everything in an athlete that a coach would want and more. An upcoming sophomore at Bishop McDevitt, Fran is not only a force on the field, but also a true leader. She knows how to rally her team, lead by example, and step up when it matters most. Whether it’s delivering in clutch moments or keeping her teammates locked in, Fran brings heart and hustle every time she suits up. Now heading into the end of her travel ball season, Fran is swinging a hot bat, hitting .400 with 22 singles, 13 doubles, and an OPS of 1.040 through 63 plate appearances. Even more impressive? She’s only struck out six times, showing discipline, consistency, and power at the plate. Her ability to consistently produce on offense, combined with her leadership qualities and mature approach to the game, makes her a high-upside prospect to college coaches.
