About Emersen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is aggressive, intentional, and team-first. Offensively, I stay disciplined in my approach, trust my preparation, and make adjustments pitch to pitch to produce quality at-bats. Defensively, I communicate early; i play using strong situational awareness and instincts to stay ahead of the game. I bring consistency, leadership, and competitive energy on either side of the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play with confidence, range, and urgency. Whether I’m in CF. at third, or moving wherever the team needs me, my mentality stays the same. I communicate early and often, take pride in reading the game, and I’m always ready for the next play. As a UTL player, I embrace adaptability and preparation I want the ball hit to me in big moments. I’m coachable, accountable, & I compete to win every pitch

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have consistently been on the Honor Roll, recognized as a Spartan Spotlight by educators for my commitment towards intentional improvement for myself, peers, & the school community. Additionally, I advocate, through local opportunities, for both mental health needs & fire safety and prevention

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a true utility player, I demonstrate elite leadership through my dedication and versatility. I train all aspects of the game with a relentless pursuit of improvement, constantly seeking knowledge and feedback. My team-first approach, combined with my unwavering commitment to accountability, creates a positive and driven environment. My preparation, both mental & physical, ensures readiness.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Those moments where the lights were bright and I fell short. That disappointment hit deep, & it would creep into the next highly anticipated moment as fear/doubt. Past failures in big moments actually grew me in my mental approach use of biofeedback resulting in being the dependable & consistent athlete I expected of myself. I trust my prep, stay in process, & the outcome takes care of itself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a competitive college program that values development, accountability, and strong team culture. I want to be in an environment where I’m pushed every day — athletically and academically — and surrounded by coaches who invest in player growth both on and off the field. Finding a program that competes at a high level, emphasizes communication and leadership, and feels like a family.

One aspect of the game that coaches love to talk about is quality at-bats. When Emersen Johnson steps to the plate, that is something you can definitely count on. During fall ball last year for the Beverly Bandits, she had 46 quality at-bats out of 65. She also recorded 28 hits, a .431 batting average, and a .500 batting average in the final 12 games. She can hit the ball with authority to all fields and can pile up the extra-base hits without trying to do too much. Defensively, she has a strong arm, and was clocked earlier this year at 62 mph while throwing overhand. She holds herself to high standards both offensively and defensively and it certainly shows on the field.
