About Ella

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm an athletic SS with a strong arm that can hit for power and average. I believe my best quality is my ability to communicate on the field and be a great teammate cheering on my team. I love playing the game and I think that is seen in the way that I play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a very competitive mentality and love the opportunity to be put in high pressure situations. When the game is on the line I want to be in the box. The most frustrating thing for me about the game of softball is you have to wait in line for your turn to directly affect the game. My personality is outgoing especially when I feel comfortable in a group.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been named to the Superintends Honor Roll 4 semesters for a 4.0 GPA. I also participate in Track (100M, 200M, 400M and Discus). Last year as an 8th Grader I was Nationally Ranked in Discus in my class. I'm active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as being an active member of my church and youth group.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've had the opportunity to serve my community in many ways from volunteering for the Red Andrews Dinner where we provide toys and meals for needy family's at Christmas time as well as community service at elementary schools in our school district. These have helped make me grateful for what I have and who I have in my life. I think being a servant makes me a better leader and teammate.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I think my biggest challenge is giving myself grace when I make a mistake. I am a perfectionist and I expect to make every play and have a big hit when I'm at the plate. Unfortunately, softball is a game of failure and learning to allow myself to learn from my mistakes has been hard but has made me a better player and stronger person.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a place where I can feel at home and continue to grow as a player and a person. I have not yet decided on a major or career pathway, but that will be a big portion of my decision. I love to be pushed and compete at the highest level so finding a place where I can do that will be really important.
