About Charlotte

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a lefty slap hitter with the ability to power slap, soft slap, drag bunt and full swing. I typically play any of the outfield positions and am known to dive for any ball headed my way. I can easily throw out a runner at home from the outfield - so batters watch out!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very focused when it comes to my softball game. I have a hitting and fielding net set-up at my house so I can practice any time of day, no matter the weather. I know that tee work is super important when it comes to my style of hitting, so I make sure that I get that work in as much as I can. Softball is my life, and I enjoy surrounding myself with other like-minded softball players.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am also involved in the jazz band and band at school. I've been playing the trombone for five years, and I enjoy helping the younger students, acting as a mentor. I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society as well.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Our softball team helps out with younger teams (10U) and this community service has helped me become a better player and person. I want to work with younger kids as a career in some form, so this is giving me good experience with that as well. I have participated in a program at school where we travel to local elementary schools and do activities with the students and have enjoyed this too.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Over the past two years, I have dealt with Severs Disease and Osgood-Schlatter Disease as I have been growing. This has been a challenge to balance my health with my desire to play. I've had to miss practices and games for physical therapy and letting my body heal. While this is tough, it has taught me to listen to my body because I know it tells me what it needs to do.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where I can play softball and also continue my education. I'm not sure if I want to go into special education or early education, but I know I want to work with younger kids. At this point, I'm still looking at different sizes and locations for college.
