With both her high school and club teams, opponents hate seeing Ava Tong standing in the circle. Pitching for Danbury, Tong enjoyed a strong outing in the Connecticut state tournament to start June, striking out 16 batters in a complete-game shutout, in which she allowed just one hit against Bristol Central. This summer, Tong will play with Unity Torres/Plath. In January, Tong pitched 12.2 scoreless innings for her club squad, fanning 30 batters. She attended Boston College’s prospect camp in January.
