Rylie Johnson packs a lot of power into just a 5-foot-3 frame and has been putting up huge numbers at the varsity level since eighth grade. As a senior this spring in 19 games, the LSU signee is hitting .783 with a 2.496 OPS, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, 12 walks and just one strikeout. She also has 24 stolen bases on the season and 99 in 77 career games. Johnson uses an early leg kick to generate all that pop, focusing on driving the ball between the alleys. She is the top player in her class from Virginia, per Prep Softball’s rankings, and could soon be hitting bombs on the Bayou.

Speaking of multi-sport athletes, Rylie Johnson competes in basketball when she is not busy with her softball exploits. She has also played at the high school level since she was an eighth grader. Johnson is one of Virginia’s signature talents on a Fredericksburg Christian team that has been used to winning over the last several seasons. When her season with the Eagles concludes, she will call Baton Rouge, Louisiana home as she is committed to LSU. This season, Johnson has led Fredericksburg Christian in a number of statistical categories, including batting average, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs and runs scored.

Johnson’s speed is well-suited for the SEC, which makes her a great fit for LSU. The lefty outfielder is the coach’s kid at the club level, with her father leading both her club team and the entire Unity organization. A PGF national champion, Johnson comes from a winning pedigree, which will undoubtedly help her succeed at the Division 1 level.
