During her first two high school seasons, she quickly became a player who people wanted to watch, bringing confidence both in the circle and at the plate. Abby also brings power to the plate, having numerous home runs to her name during her softball career. In the 2023 high school season, she received conference honorable mention honors and continues to thrive on the field. While in the circle, Abby moves the ball well in all quadrants, throwing a rise, curve, and drop ball to keep her opponents off balance. If need be, she can also play in the outfield when she is not leading the pitching staff for the Ladyhawks. She is a player constantly seeking to improve in any way she can and, while doing so, is very coachable. While she brings confidence and intensity to every game, Abby also enjoys having fun and shows her passion for the game she loves. She attends Ballard High School in Seattle, and is part of the KB Fastpitch 18U Hauck team. She has been the starting catcher for her high school team in both her first and second years. Katie has helped lead her squad to state in both seasons by calling every pitch behind the plate for them. She earned several awards through her last years of high school ball, including All-Division Metro Sound Catcher of the Year and Metro Mountain Catcher of the Year, and was able to represent her high school in the Metro 3A All-Star game. Her athleticism as a multi-sport athlete has only benefited her on the diamond and allowed her to be a versatile player who can play positions other than catcher, like second base or in the outfield. Katie is hardworking, very coachable, and a natural leader, which are three significant attributes college coaches look for in their future athletes. Katie knows how to put pressure on opposing teams with her above-average speed and intelligent base running, all while having the ability to hit to all fields.
