This lefty seventh-grader is an absolute wizard at the plate; not only is she playing up a year, but she’s also spot-hitting with high accuracy. Gabby Chun’s elite hand-eye coordination and barrel control speak volumes about her drive to succeed at a very high level and her follow-through outside normal practice hours to achieve that success. Playing on both turf and dirt can be a difficult transition for someone who primarily slaps if they don’t understand how to pull off their swing or place the ball to give themselves time to get to first base, but Chun transitions seamlessly from turf to dirt. Her ability to threaten an opposing team either in short-game situations or by forcing high-pressure stress is impressive, and her speed around the bases should put her firmly into the leadoff or No. 2 spot in any lineup.
