2030 Prospects Separating Themselves This Fall

As the fall travel ball circuit heats up, college coaches are turning their attention toward the class of 2030. Standout prospects in the class are taking full advantage of every rep they get in order to assert themselves as the next generation of premier recruits. Below, Prep Softball explores five prospects from the high school class of 2030 who are separating themselves this fall. Rawlins Williams has elite competitive instincts and range for any class, and she is certainly setting herself apart from the general shortstop group in the 2030 class. She stays low to the ground as she scans the field, and her ability to read bad hops is comparable to that of Gold Glove–winning shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. Williams is an enjoyable player to watch as she never gives up on a play and is always willing to give an extra 10% effort to either make the play or keep the runner from advancing. Those little things make a big difference to college coaches. Offensively, Williams has set a standard for herself that is relentless. Her bat speed is advanced for her class, and her barrel-to-ball consistency routinely produces line drives into outfield gaps, where she can then use her speed to force high-pressure situations on opposing defenses. Fresh to a new team this fall, Briley Ferguson hasn't shown any signs of nerves in her play. She's been a tough out at the plate with a batting average over .500 so far this fall and has come through for her team, with RBIs climbing toward double digits. She's a dynamic athlete who can play multiple skill positions at a high level, as she plays up on her new BC Fastpitch NTX 16U team. She has a great mental approach to the game, evident because of her off-the-field training and drive to play at a high level. Ferguson is a player to watch this fall and beyond. Aliana Neptune brings intangible assets to the game that simply elevate her to one of the most complete athletes in the 2030 class. Her raw energy, persistent focus, and leadership through encouragement cannot be measured in numbers, but her teammates and coaches certainly rely on those intangibles, especially in high-pressure situations. Once she makes contact, her motor doesn't stop until the ball is securely back in the circle. When she drives the ball into the grass, you're lucky to keep her to a single. Defensively, Neptune dedicates most of her time to catcher, but with her athleticism and competitive drive, she also splits time in the middle infield and remains a composed leader for her GA Power Gold team. We're now in the era of true dual-threat pitchers, where they're a nightmare to face off against in the circle and at the plate. Brielle Barson is a machine in the circle with her speed differential—she has a 63 mph fastball and a 45 mph changeup. Barson also has a smooth swing through the zone. She drives her hips and hands through contact, allowing her body to do the work and her bat to give the ball distance. She's a major competitor and should be one to watch as the 2030 recruiting radar comes into focus. Focused and determined are the two words I would use to describe the type of athlete Brooklynn Hager is. Between her elite eye control at the plate and her precision throwing behind it, she's holding her own against upperclassmen years her senior. Hager, being in the class of 2030 and playing up with VA Glory 16U, speaks volumes on its own. She wants to be challenged and isn't afraid of adversity. Defensively, her fluid footwork excels and extends to her clean transfer, making tough plays look routine. She's not designated as a utility player but does split time between catcher, third base, and the outfield. Offensively, she is already showing slugging promise with several home runs under her belt. As she continues to develop her skill set, I anticipate her singles will quickly turn into doubles and triples.
