Some players simply have a knack for driving in runs. In the case of Zoey Hawkinson, the stats don’t lie. Over the course of only eight games, Hawkinson has 11 RBIs, 14 hits, 14 runs scored, three triples, and a .519 batting average as of this writing. She has dramatically improved in every offensive category from her freshman year by putting the ball in play, getting on base, and having a good eye at the plate. She has also shown steady progress defensively, and has seven assists for the season to go along with a double play. Her Mead Mavericks are off to their best start in five years with an 11-2 record and a roaring offense with Hawkinson as one of its leaders.
