2029 Prospects Carrying Summer Momentum Into Fall Ball

Fall ball is just around the corner, which means the college softball prospects who balled out over the summer are gearing up to try to do it all over again in just a few short weeks.   Below, Prep Softball highlights five prospects from the class of 2029 who are hoping to carry their summer momentum into fall ball.    Eden Campanella from Illinois is a right-handed pitcher to watch in the 2029 class. Though she stands at just 5'3", she packs quite a punch in the circle, giving her teams quality innings and outings that consistently help them have a chance to win games. Campanella competes for Central Breese High School in school ball and Top Gun 29/30-IL on the club softball circuit. When she is not pitching, Campanella often plays in the middle infield and outfield. She is a serious student as well, maintaining a 3.98 GPA.     Ashlyn Childress from Texas is another talented right-handed pitcher in the 2029 class. The First Baptist Academy student-athlete gets it done both on the softball field and in the classroom, posting a 4.83 GPA during her first year of high school. Childress competes in travel ball for Bombers Gold National 16U Grey and plays a solid first base when she is not pitching. She has already attended multiple college camps and clinics to both improve her skill set and aid in her recruiting process.     Evelynn Humes from Missouri is an impressive middle infielder in the 2029 class. Humes, who stands at 5'5" and primarily plays second base, attends Eureka High School as a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball and competes for Select Fastpitch Humes 15U in the club softball realm. When she is not playing in the middle infield, you can often find the speedy and athletic Humes holding things down in center field. The right-handed thrower and hitter was also honored as a 2026 USA All-American for Region 7.     Noelle Lia Santiago of Florida is a multi-sport athlete who makes big things happen on the softball diamond. The 2029 shortstop and outfielder stands at 5'2" and maintains a 4.3 GPA in the classroom at Harmony High School. Competing in club softball for Firecrackers FL 29/30, Santiago has already attended several college camps and skills clinics, demonstrating her willingness to put in the work to improve away from her team. She had a tremendous summer, batting .402 with a .467 on-base percentage, 14 stolen bases, 28 RBI, and 41 runs scored.     Makinley Atkinson is a California native and a 5'5" middle infielder with a ton of potential in the 2029 class. She competes for both Extreme Rios/Ching 18U and Amador Valley, where she holds a 3.8 GPA. Atkinson can hit for both average and power and demonstrates a growing skill set that will only continue to improve over time. She also has experience playing third base, where her strong arm translates into great plays for her team. With continued work and experience playing at a high level, we expect Atkinson's recruiting stock to rise this fall.
