Summer Ball Stock Watch: 2029s Excelling On The Field

The 2029 class continues to make noise on the summer circuit. From dominant performances in the circle to explosive offensive numbers against elite competition, these athletes have made the most of the summer stage.   Below, Prep Softball highlights six standouts from the high school class of 2029 who are excelling on the field this summer.    Lauren Klomp continues to raise her stock as a left-handed pitcher with the ability to control games from the circle. At the Colorado Sparkler, Klomp worked an impressive 39.1 innings while posting a 1.60 ERA and a dominant .661 WHIP. She collected 56 strikeouts, tossed three shutouts, and held opposing hitters to a .130 batting average. One of the most impressive numbers from her week was allowing just one home run. In the Colorado air, where the ball is known to carry, Klomp's ability to limit hard contact and keep the ball in the park speaks volumes about her command and effectiveness.     Gabriella Alcala made her presence felt throughout a successful Colorado run, helping her team finish 15-3 while capturing the P5 Patriot Games Wildcard Championship and placing third in the 14U National Power Pool at the Colorado Sparkler. Alcala provided consistent production at the plate, hitting .326 with 14 hits and 12 RBIs. Her offensive versatility stood out with eight singles, four doubles, and two home runs, showing an ability to produce in multiple ways rather than relying on one part of her game. Alcala's combination of extra-base power and run production helped fuel her team's success against strong competition, making her a 2029 hitter to continue watching as the summer progresses.     Reese Madsen has put together one of the most eye-catching offensive stretches of the summer for Texas Bombers Gold 14U Malpass. Madsen helped the Bombers finish as runners-up in the Sparkler National Power Pool after previously contributing to a championship run at the P5 Patriot Games. At the Sparkler, she was a force in the lineup, hitting .581 with six home runs, three doubles, a triple, 20 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. Madsen also added eight stolen bases, showcasing an impressive combination of power, production, and athleticism on the bases. The ability to change a game with her bat or her speed has made Madsen a major piece of the Bombers' summer success.     Brooke Gossett is the definition of a true two-way player, bringing impact potential both in the circle and at the plate for Firecrackers IL Ring. The right-handed pitcher also handles shortstop duties and has proven she can hit for both power and average, giving her team a difference-maker in multiple areas of the game. At the Colorado Sparkler, Gossett delivered a strong performance in the circle, throwing 26 innings with 43 strikeouts, a 1.80 ERA, and a 1.10 WHIP. Her ability to miss bats and take on meaningful innings stands out, but it is her complete skill set that makes her especially intriguing. With power in the box, athleticism at a premium position, and legitimate ability in the circle, Gossett is quickly establishing herself as one of the more versatile players to follow in the 2029 class.     Rylee Dunlavy made power look effortless during her time in Colorado, putting together an impressive showing against National Power Pool competition. The utility player hit .550 during pool play with four home runs, a double, and six singles, consistently finding ways to barrel up the softball. Dunlavy has a natural ability to drive the ball out of the park, and she added another home run in the showcase following pool play. What stands out most is how easy the power appears to come off her bat. With consistent production and legitimate home run ability, Dunlavy is proving to be one of the more dangerous offensive threats in her class.     Shylo Williford showed her value on both sides of the ball during a strong week at the Colorado Sparkler, competing in the National Power Pool and helping her team to a 5-3 finish. At the plate, Williford was a consistent run producer, batting .450 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. She also contributed in the circle, throwing 15 innings and recording eight strikeouts, while providing additional versatility at first base. Williford's ability to impact a lineup with her power while filling multiple roles defensively makes her a valuable piece of her team.
