Defensively, one can place Olivia Esquibel on the diamond either in the outfield or as a middle infielder. This intriguing young prospect from the 4-Six-3 Fastpitch Academy took part in this past weekend's Turf Wars Invitational against Texas Glory and Athletics Mercado. The ground she managed to cover while at second base can prevent many would-be hits and, fittingly, can be the starting point of many 4-6-3 double plays. Her speed also enables her to track down many popups that typically would drop for base hits, and she is also more than willing to hustle into foul territory to record outs.

Aliyah Reeder primarily operates defensively as a catcher, but she can also serve as a utility player for her team. She wears the Tampa Mustangs Szabo 29/30 uniform and she recently took part in the PGF Belt Wars invite, where her team went 5-1. Included in that defensive performance was her throwing out a runner who was attempting to steal second base. One of those utility spots she can play at is third base. Her quick reactions allow her to position herself where the ball is going and can turn many potential line-drive base hits into outs. Reeder also understands how to field bunt attempts, particularly if the batter is left-handed, in order to throw out a runner who is looking to get to first base once the bunt gets laid down.

Prior to wearing the Ohio Lasers 2030 Georgalas uniform, Kinley Baun had a previous stint during which she played travel softball for Rise 360 Fastpitch. Defensively, she thrives as a utility player, but her primary talent is at third base. Baun covers plenty of ground defensively and understands when she should allow a batted ball to come to her and when she should pursue the batted ball herself. She also understands the situational nature of playing defense, such as if it is a smarter play to get a sure out at first base or to throw out a runner at third base who is looking to score on a ground ball.

Caroline Craig currently plays middle school ball at Princess Anne MS and is looking ahead to her high school playing days at Kellam following the 2026 season. She is another athlete who has no problems being a utility player, in addition to operating as a catcher. One of those utility spots she plays is right field, and she can turn many would-be hits into outs there. Right now, sharpening her infield defensive mechanics is a primary emphasis for Craig, a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball.

Carleigh Mattox receiving a USA Softball All-American invite last year is a testament to her talent as a young prospect ascending up the ranks in her class. She is the lone eighth grader playing varsity for 7A Prattville this year, and has been a part of a Lions team that has put together its first 20-win season in three years. Defensively, one can spot Mattox as part of a team's battery as a catcher, and she is a consistent threat to throw out runners on the bases. Mattox also places an emphasis on making sure her pitcher's pitches end up in the strike zone and changes her mechanics behind the plate based on whether or not there are runners on base. Mattox is a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball and flag football.
