May Hoebeke
May
Hoebeke
C/1B
NH
finished out her fall season in spectacular fashion, going 4-for-5 with three doubles at her final tournament in early November. She has a smooth, inside-out swing and can get her arms extended on outside pitches, driving them to the opposite field over outfielders’ heads. When the defense overplays her opposite-field prowess, Hoebeke can pull the ball into the gap as well. She has excellent bat-to-ball skills and can barrel up pitches in all quadrants of the strike zone from right-handed and left-handed pitchers. Defensively, Hoebeke will leap out of her catcher’s crouch to pounce on pop-ups in front of the plate, and she always remembers to back up first base on infield grounders. She attends Lurgio Middle School in Bedford and is a member of the Polar Crush organization, having previously played for the New Hampshire Lightning.
